Where there is despair,
Let there be hope.
Where there is darkness,
Let there be light.
Where there is sadness,
Let there be joy.

Grief and Sorrow are the most difficult emotions to deal with. We feel that darkness is closing in and that we may never see the light. We feel distant from others and that our lives have been turned upside down. But know that the Creator never gives us more than we can handle. We must learn to lay our burden of grief and sorrow at his feet and that he will comfort us as he carries our burden. In time, our sorrow and grief will change to fond memories of those we miss. We will always miss them, but we should remember them with joy and not of sadness. I hope in sharing with you these verses and stories that I have found, they will comfort you and help heal your soul as they did mine. I will always miss my loved ones, but I know they are near me and I can remember them with a smile and a tear.

I Took His Hand

I took his hand when I heard Him call
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that place at the close of day.
Though my parting has left a void
Please fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
But Don't lengthen it with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me.
He wanted me now. He's set me free.

I know you are hurting and overcome with grief at times for the loss of your loved one, but know you are not alone. It doesn't matter how long ago that loss occurred or if it was a parent, child, relative, friend, or even a beloved pet. You are grieving and it is normal. There is no set time as to when the grief will lessen but it will and will be replaced with fond memories. I do not make light of the grief a person feels even for a beloved pet. That pet was part of their lives and gave unconditional love. I have lost a few pets and we were very close. They were my friends and confidants. The poetry in this section I hope will help anyone who has lost a loved one even if it's a beloved pet.
