Promises Of Love
 
 

Love is not all it promises to be
At least it was never so to me
I built up false hopes
And dreamt untrue dreams
Found out it's never as easy as it seems
Promised me happiness
Brought me sadness
Promised me joy
All it did was annoy
Promised me security
Faced me with infedelity.
Love is an illusion
Brings disappointment and confusion
Plays games with your heart
And tears you apart.
I have been blind
Too trusting, too kind.
I learnt the hard way
How to see with my own eyes
That all these promises
Were nothing but lies.
