Glimpse
Back to poetry
A glimpse into me that you didn't want to see
A face I kept hidden you forced me to bring out
The mask that I wore you gently took off
In life I was hiding,
But you drew attention
I tried to be a shadow,
But you turned on the light
I didn't want you to see this,
I thought I'd scare you away
You already mean so much more to me than I can ever say
But now that you've seen,
How will you react?
Will you still be there for me? Or was I right?
Was I right when I said that I'd always be alone?
This foolish heart, which used to be so careful
Opened up and started trusting you
And slowly the ice over my heart started to melt,
And let you in
But will you stay now that you're here?
Or is this just a glimpse of me that you didn't want to see?
