.·//* Snowflake *\\·.
A poem by
Jaclyn

How can a snowflake fly
With such ease, such grace
On the back on the wings of winter?

How can it be so light
So carefree
Twirl like a ballerina
In lacy tutus of silver rain?

Why was the snowflake
Born into a world of
Peaceful flights of fancy
Aimless wanderings in the arms of a breeze?

Why was it allowed the luxury
Of freedom? Of flight?
Drifting gracefully onto a cloud
The Life of a Dancer

And why was I born into this world of hatred
This life that I loathe though I am forced to live it
Where everyday is another burden to bear
On shoulders already slumped with grief?
So although my body cries out for the freedom the sky holds
And my arms long to swirl the currents of air into song

My hands remain bound
My body anchored firmly to the earth
Never to float among the stars
Never to fly among the Heavens
I will remain forever in bondage
Never to feel the wind's caress on my face
Never

To be a dancer
