This is a conversation held between Nick and Tom on the patio.
Nick is airing his concerns to Tom about how he is being perceived in the outside world. This is to do with the lie he made up about his wife dying.
Tom said, 't is the responsibility of Channel 4 to protect them and even if you did tell a lie, Channel 4 have no right to exploit it'.
Tom said, 'They have to protect us in order to protect themselves'.
Nick said, 'Supposing they did broadcast it, what would you think of it?'
Tom said, 'It's a stupid lie, but they do have an effect on people'.
Then Tom, 'It doesn't matter if you tell a lie then you admit it. As long as you are honest about it'.
Nick saids,'I'm really worried that people are baying for my blood'.
Tom said, 'It's not a major thing. Only if they broadcast it without telling you would it be a major story but, they should protect you. You're worrying too much. Parahnoia. You don't know. You'll have to wait till someone asks you about it. What can people do?'
Nick said 'They can boo you when you walk out of here'.
Tom said, 'Boo them back!'
Tom said, 'Don't think about it too much. What's done is done. You've apologised'.
Nick said. 'You think I should leave it?'
Tom said 'There are things you might have said under your breath. The camera will pick it up.
Nick said, 'Big Brother is just like football. Players kick each other. It's just a game. He said, 'Darren asked me why I had encouraged you to go into the Diary Room after you and Caroline were nominated. Nick said, 'That kind of incident was just a technical thing. I probably wouldn't vote against you'.
Tom said, 'Don't think in negatives'.
Nick said, 'I had a really good day yesterday, now I am tired. Sometimes you do forget that there are cameras around. The worst thing is I will go into hiding'.
Tom said, 'Is it 13 million people? What's the chances of you walking in Picadilly Circus and people recognising you? People don't make eye contact. They walk around with their heads down'.
Nick said, 'If I met you in a bar, would you look at me?'
Tom said, 'That kind of thing is down to chance. When I'm walking about, I make a point of making eye contact with people. He said, 'When you do make eye contact with people and you see respect there in their eyes, it is a great thing. It is nice when you catch someone's eyes and you see respect there. I know because it has happened to me'.
Nick said, 'This kind of thing could affect my future career'.
Tom said, 'You will have to come clean about it. It was just a stupid lie. Telling a lie could be quite funny you know that because you have told lies and walked away giggling because it was so funny'. They both have a giggle.. He tells Nick, 'Trust in yourself, everybody does it. I wouldn't get too worried about it. They have enough material with this programme, we can be wicked'.
Tom said, 'There's nothing to worry about'.
Then Tom went back into the house. |
