During early adulthood, I harbored a strong desire to learn theTarot, however it wasn't until over a decade ago that I shed all of my fears and unfounded social beliefs and began a path of self-discovery with the Tarot. Through my experiences with the cards, I have learned that the Tarot is not 'wrong' or 'bad' -- it is a wonderful tool for problem solving and exploring the energies and circumstances surrounding our lives. What Prompted Your Interest In Divination? Divination has always been a subject I have enjoyed. When I was a child, as a source of entertainment my mother, sister, and I often used a deck of ordinary playing cards to practice 'ESP' skills together. For a short period I also studied and performed palm readings (at the time, palm reading was a more acceptable and popular form of divination than the Tarot). It wasn't until later in my adult life that I finally embraced my interest in the Tarot and purchased my first deck of Tarot cards. It is now my preferred form of divination. What Myth or Wives-tale Would You Most Like To See Clarified Regard- ing The Tarot? The idea that the Tarot is a tool of the 'Christian Devil'. This analogy was first presented in a sermon given by a thirteenth century Franciscan friar in Italy. What most people don't know is that during this time in history the cards were used for gaming and gambling, not divination. Its seems that the Tarot's bad rap today began from a totally unrelated debunking of its cards. As with any tool, I believe the Tarot is only as good or bad as the person using it. Have You Engaged In Any Formal Training Or Education To Learn The Tarot? Upon obtaining my first Tarot deck, I began an intensive self study of the Tarot through books and Internet sources. Years later I enrolled in WitchSchool where, amongst other courses of interest, I was able to participate in a structured Tarot program. In addition, I have also completed many psychic courses through the Institute of Psychic and Paranormal Research. I now serve there as a faculty member. My first written course, 'Introduction to Tarot,' should be available through the IPPR later this year. My latest search for additional training has recently led me to a new school, Tarot College, where I look forward to continuing my tarot education. What Is The Most Profound Or Lasting Lesson You Have Learned From Your Years Of Studying The Tarot? I've learned that, as individuals, we really aren't all that different. We all encounter the same lessons, problems, and life circumstances, although the various versions of these experiences and the timing in which they occur in our lives can differ vastly from person to person. To me this only seems to hint toward our true purpose in life -- to learn, to gain knowledge, and to grow in spirit and wisdom from our experiences. For Those Not Familiar With The Tarot, How Would You Describe It To Them? Actually the Tarot isn't as mysterious as it may sound; it is its use that makes it mysterious. On the surface the Tarot is a simple deck of cards that uses pictures and symbolic imagery to represent the common energies that ebb and flow through- out our lives. When used for divination the reader will shuffle the cards and lay them in what is called a Tarot 'spread'. The spread itself, as well as the cards that appear in it, are meant to shed light on particular areas of interest, thus allowing the reader to explore a querent's life circumstances What Are Your Personal Views Of The Tarot? For me the cards are a positive source of advice, exploration, guidance, and divination. When life becomes confusing and/or unmanageable, the cards can help us sort through the various energies to clarify what is truly important to us. By using the Tarot to explore our inner feelings about a situation, person, or event we can discover effective solutions for our lives and the deeper insight we seek. What Projects Are You Working With Now In Relation To The Tarot? Having recently created my own personal deck of Tarot cards through digital photo-graphy (see link at the bottom of this page), I've decided my next Tarot project will focus upon Tarot Spreads. Stay tuned, for further details! In the meantime, I'm in the process of writing my second Tarot course for the IPPR, 'Divination with Tarot'. This class will take up where the first class left off, thus providing the student with new information and challenges regarding the Tarot. What Deck(s) Do You Primarily Use For Your Readings? I use the Robin Wood Tarot. I have owned other decks, however, the Robin Wood is the only deck that I use for my readings now. Every reader must find the deck that seems to speak to him/her the best -- the Robin Wood deck's messages are clear and concise for me, and I am comfortable using them. My second favorite deck is the Rider-Waite Tarot. The images of the Rider-Waite are simple but effective in relaying their meanings, especially for those unfamiliar with the Tarot. When I perform online readings, I share the Rider-Waite deck images with my clients as a pictorial of their reading. What Can One Expect When Participating In A Reading With You? I strive to keep my readings professional, and to follow strong ethical and moral guidelines befitting a professional Tarot reader. My goal for each reading is to unveil the deeper meaning of the energies at work in my client's life and to provide him/her with positive advice, affirmation, and guidance. How Much Information Do You Need From A Client To Perform A Reading? Every reader is different, but I do not require any information from my clients to perform a reading. However, if a client would like for me to address a specific problem or situation, I will focus on this area if he/she asks. How Do You Perform Your Tarot Readings? I prefer to provide my readings via E-mail, but I am also available through Instant Messenger or Chat Room. If a situation warrants it, I will consider performing a tele- phone reading. How Does One Set-up A Reading With You? Requests for readings may be sent to E-mail address: [email protected] If the individual has a specific life circumstance or situation he/she would like the reading to address, he/she may present it at the time of initial contact. However, if he/she would rather not share this information, that is acceptable too. Whether an individual does or do not reveal the reason he/she has sought a reading, the cards will provide me with many clues, which I will share with him/her. After the reading, I will send a link to my Paypal account for payment. I differ from most online readers in that I do not ask for payment until the individual has actually received the reading and is pleased with the quality of my services. I am always willing and available to answer further questions regarding my readings. I also greatly appreciate it when my clients keep me abreast of any unfolding situ-ations or circumstances my readings may have addressed. Confirming the accuracy of my readings is helpful to me in improving my Tarot reading skills. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Welcome Biography Testimonies Interview Code of Ethics Readings ________________________________________________________________________________________ OTHER MOON MASQUE WEBSITES: The Mystique Tarot The Meaning Behind The Masque Simple Thoughts Of Complex Origin |
