Selene's Secret

These hair rinses make your hair really shine.  Wash hair with normal shampoo and rinse well.  Then pour rinse through.

Base recpie
2 teaspoons tea tree oil
3 teaspoons glycerine
3 cups herbal infusion
5 drops essential oil

Herbal infusion for fair hair (including red)

2 tablespoons chamomile
2 tablespoons yarrow
1 tablespoon elderflower
Simmer in 2 litres of water for ten minutes and then steep overnight.

Herbal infusion for dark hair

2 tablespoons rosemary
2 tablespoons nettle
1 tablespoon sage or borage
Simmer in 2 litres of water for ten minutes and then steep overnight.

Essential Oils

3 drops frankincense and  2 of clary sage for autum and winter
or
3 drops of thyme and 2 of marjoram for spring and summer
or
make up your own!

Moon Ritual Cakes

1 cup shortening or 1/2 cup shortening, 1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup ground blanched almonds
1 2/3 cup flaour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup confectioner's sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Mix together shortening, sugar and almonds.  Sift together flour and salt, then stir into almond mixture until a soft dough forms.  Chill dough for at least one hour.  Preheat oven to 325F. Break off pieces of chilled dough and roll pencil thin.  cut rolled dough in 2 1/2 inch lengths and form each length into a cresent shape.  Bake on an ungreased cookie tray until set but not brown (about 14-16 minutes). Mix together confectioner's sugar and cinnamon.  Cool cookies on tray and when still slightly warm dip into cinnamon mixture.

Herbal Salad Dressing

3/4 cup olive oil
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
1/2 tablespoon each fresh basil, parsley and chives
1 tablespoon each fresh dill, marjoram and tarragon
salt and pepper to taste

Blend all ingredients together in a jar. Refrigerate overnight before using to allow flavours to blend.  Shake bottle before using and store any left over in the refrigerator.

Sangria

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup hot water
6 cups red wine
2 1/2 cups orange juice
1 1/2 cups white grape juice
2 cups carbonated water
1 cup champange or sparkling wine

Dissolve sugar in water. Allow to cool. Combine sugar water, wine, jucies carbonated water and champange in large punch bowl or pitcher.  Serve over ice.
