For an excellent book on herbs and their magickal uses try Scott Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs. This list is only what I have and use regularly. I t is important to keep your spells herbs separated from you regular cooking herbs and helps if you can grow them yourself. This way you can infuse them with your energies as you nurture them.

Belladonna - This poisionous herb is illegal to grow in large quanities in Australia. It produces out of body states and is best used in a flying ointment. When applied to the pulse points it is good for achieving the right frame of mind for divination.

Benzoin Gum - Has purification qualities and is a good base for any incense.

Chamomile - Prepares the mind and body for magick work by opening the inner psychic doors. Drink it or float a sachet in the bath.

Comfrey - Ensures saftey during travel and protects against money being stolen. An external poultice will help healing broken bones, burns, swelling, broken skin and bruises. The root can be boiled for tea to help with coughs, lung infections or diarrhoea.

Dragon's Blood Powder - I use in most spells as it binds good fortune to any outcome and protects against spells misfiring in any way.

Frankincense - Has protection and opulence qualities. Can be used in any spell or incense.

Gardenia - I have several plants and used the flowers dried. Can be used in healing and love spells as well as being a great offering to the Goddess during full moon rituals.

Lavender - Used in any spell to enhance the effect. Good for love spells, peace and for dealing with grief. It also a great relaxing agent. Put a few drops of oil in a bath and soak that stress away!

Mugwort - Used to enhance psychic powers, when burnt as incense, and prophrtic dreams, when drunk as tea before bed. Use it to purify any items used for divination amd prophecy. It can also be used in spells for protection, physical endurance and libido.

Patchouli - Use in love and desire spells, money and prosperity spells

Rosemary - Use for spells involving mental ability. Also great for cleansing and purifying. Enhances memory, committment, loyalty and prevents bad dreams.

Rose Petals - Again used from my own plants once dried. Used to promote purity of intent and uncconditional appreciation of the outcome. Also good in love spells.

Sage - Used in money spells, wisdom and longevity spells.

Sandalwood - Used for protection, exorcism and healing spells. Clears negative energies.

St John's Wort - Used for health, happiness, strength and protection.

Vervain - Used to promote peace, harmonious interactions, love and protection.
