This is somewhat helpful if you have no idea what a Furuba is *,*".. If you really want to find out about it, it's best to read the manga, or watch the anime. Although, the anime ended on Vol six while the manga is still on going, so you will be missing out on a lot of juicy details if you just decided to watch the 26 eppies. However, this is just a quickie idea to sum up how the story had began.

Sketchy intro

This exhilarating, yet bittersweet tale, Fruits Basket, revealed the story of a high school girl Tohru, who had lost both of her parents, living up to her unfaltering morals, and seeking her own way through life holding on to the memory of her mother�s guidance. On her meeting with the Sohmas, she had accidentally discovered their dark secret. Whenever a Sohma memeber is hugged by the opposite gender, he/she will turn into one of the animals of the Jyunishi legend (Chinese zodiac). Remembering the story that her mother told her when she was just a little girl, she began to understand their feelings and the shadow of the curse. The legend was of the Party that God threw, he invited all the animals to come tomorrow, and which no one was to be late. The mouse played a trick on the cat and told him that the party was not to start until the day after tomorrow. So the next day, the mouse rode on the back of the cow and arrived first followed by eleven of other animals. All of the animals are then later turned into the twelve zodiac signs while the cat was left excluded. Tohru would cry when she was little upon hearing the sad story, and now she is to live with this strange, yet comforting family and vowed to keep their screct safe. Little did she known, she is the key of change in the house of the Sohmas...
