Tohru is one of the main characters in Fruits Basket. She is very determined and optimistic. Her father died when she was very young, and her mother died in a car accident in recent years. She was left alone to live in a tent because she does not wish to burden her friends and her family (her grandpa, aunt and cousins). She is basically estranged from all of her family members. She later moved in with the Sohmas (Yuki, Kyo and Shigure).

Yuki is the mouse from the twelve Chinese zodiacs. He is known as "The Prince" of his school due to his extreme attractiveness and composures (*fainting*). All of the girls who love him to death formed a Yuki fan club (they vowed to protect the beautiful Yuki's pure heart...-.-'''). Despite his feminine looks, he is a well-trained martial artist. (He fights really well ^^,,, and he is very intelligent, he is the student body president to be.) Sometimes he is rather withdrawn and can become very gloomy. He enjoys gardening (he has a little plot of land which he plans vegetables including leek which Kyo hates). Yuki seems to lighten up whenever he is around Tohru. -^^-

Kyo-kun is the cat~ As you know, cat is not one of the Chinese zodiacs, therefore he is misfit. He seems to resent Yuki because he is the mouse, and according to the tales of the Juunishi, the mouse tricked the cat so he could not come to the God's enkai, and so he was excluded. Kyo held an ambition as to beat Yuki someday, but he is always the one end up flying in mid-air during their fights. Kyo is hot-tempered, and very straightforward, but he is actually a very sweet guy, he also have the tendency to become very "unstable" in rainy weathers. His guardian is Sohma Kazuma, whom he refers to as Master. Kyo also seems to be fond of milk. (Meow? His kitty instincts?) And he cares a lot about Tohru too � humm ~

Name: Sohma Shigure Age: 27 Height: 178 cm Weight: 68.5 kg Blood type: AB Sign: Scorpio Chinese zodiac: Dog

Shigure is a novelist. He owns the house where Yuki, Kyo and Tohru live. He writes serious books, but in addition to that, he has a hobby of creating Shoujo (romantic girl's comics) under a pen name. He is always wearing his kimono, and he wears glass when he writes(which he looks oh so handsome in!) Shigure is very funny, he enjoys playing around with his editor so she comes very stressed out to the point where she is going to strangle him alive. (gehhh� -_-''' ) When he's serious though, he tends to become a very respectable person. Ah, what will we do without Shigure's sense of humor~ did I mention that he loves to drink tea and eat takoyaki ^^�

Name: Sohma Hatori Age: 27 Height: 182 cm Weight: 69 kg Blood type: A Sign: Cancer Chinese Zodiac: Dragon (but he turns into a sea horse)

Hatori is a doctor, he's always so rigid and serious, and he has the special ability to erase people's memory. Hatori's left eye is practically blind. He had a girlfriend whom he loved dearly but had to erase her memory in the end because he does not want her to suffer. Hatori is always wearing suits. (He looks so good in his shirts and glasses.) Shigure and Ayame are close friends of him from childhood. (PS: to Jun-chan: yes I know, Hatori is hot!!~ ^^)

Name: Sohma Ayame Age: 27 Height: 175 cm Weight: 63 kg Blood type: O Sign: Sagittarius Chinese zodiac: Snake

Ayame is Yuki's big brother; they do not seemed to share a pleasant relationship with each other. Aya owns a clothing store, which he custom designs clothes for women with his assistant Mine (and he claims it sells romance... ehh'''...but it really is just a clothing store don't worry). He's most significant characteristic is his long silver hair (he talks a lot too, he has a long story to tell about his hair). He respects Hatori, and something funny will always happen when he's present with Shigure ^.~ .

Name: Sohma Hatsuharu, or Haru Age: 15~16 Height: 170.2 cm Weight: 57.5 kg Blood type: O Sign: Cancer Chinese Zodiac: Ox (but he turns into a cow)

Haru has natural born white and black hair. He has a "white" personality, which makes him a total gentleman but kind of lazy, and a "black" personality, which makes him rude and extremely violent. He has a great sense of fashion, too bad he rides on his bicycle in leathers ^^"~ Haru used to abhor Yuki because he is a mouse and the mouse took advantage of the ox by riding on his back and arriving first to the party. Although now he seems to like Yuki a bit too much. Aww, but isn't he so cute when he's serious~

Name: Sohma Kagura Age: 18~19 Height: 150.5 cm Weight: 51 kg Blood type: B Sign: Cancer Chinese Zodiac: Boar

Kagura is the boar and she's very sweet when she's not out there punching the guts out of Kyo. Kagura is always so excited when she sees Kyo, and she vows to marry him one day, but Kyo is constantly trying to avoid her, because he will always end up bruising all over since Kagura shows her love in the form of violence. Kagura is always carrying a kitty Kyo plushy on her back, so it goes to show how much she really loves him.

Momiji is the rabbit; he's actually half German. (He's blond ^^ ) Momiji is so cute and very smart. He acts and looks a lot younger than he really is. He adores Tohru, (Tohru works in his dad's office building as a cleaner.) Momiji's parents met each other in college; he also has a younger sister named Momo(peachie~). He has a sad past T~T,,, (just so sad thinking about it) ...

Name: Sohma Kisa Age: 12 Height: 145 cm Weight: 32 kg Blood type: A Sign: Pisces Chinese Zodiac: Tiger

Kisa is very shy, she has orange hair, but she is being bullied at school because of that. Her mother worries about her often because she is quite weak emotionally. She loves being around Tohru, once she learned that she is being accepted, and she is always being very sweet and adorable. She also seems to be enjoying the company of Hiro.

Name: Sohma Hiro Age: 11~12 Height: 150 cm Weight: 38 kg Blood type: AB Sign: Leo Chinese Zodiac: Sheep

Hiro is actually very obnoxious, but he is such a pretty little boy. He's very sweet to Kisa, and tries to be strong for her because he loves her very much. Hiro does not seem to like Tohru, but he accepts her because Kisa adores Tohru, and he wants Kisa to be happy. Hiro complains about many things, and he seems to take joy out of insulting other people, but he is kind at heart.

Name: Sohma Ritsu Age: 20~21 Height: 174.3 cm Weight: 59 kg Blood type: AB Sign: Capricorn Chinese Zodiac: Monkey

Ritsu is actually a guy, he only dresses like a girl because he's very insecure, and you will always find him apologizing to everyone about trivial things just like he's mother (who manages the hot spring of the Sohmas' family) always does. Ritsu admires Ayame whom seems to have excessive self-confidence. He is trying hard to be manly.

Name: Sohma Isuzu, or Rin Age: Unknown Height: Unknown Weight: Unknown Blood type: Unknown Sign: Unknown Chinese Zodiac: Horse

Rin does not appear in the anime, you will find her in the manga. She's quite mysterious; there is not much information about her background. Rin was hostitalized for sometimes, and she's living with Kagura. Rin was with Haru once, but they broke up later for some reason, and somehow Shigure will get involved with her.

Name: Souma Kureno Age: 26 Height: Unknown Weight: Unknown Blood type: Unknown Sign: Unknown Chinese Zodiac: Rooster

Kureno is introduced very late in the manga, he does not appear in the anime. Akito keeps him aways from the outside world, and he rarely gets out. Once he did go out, and he met Uotani, Tohru's friend in the convenience store where she works.

Name: Uotani Arisa, or Uo-chan Age: 16~17 Height: 168.5 cm Weight: 47kg Blood type: O Sign: Aquarius Her name symbolizes fish. ^^

Uo-chan was a Yankee, she's one of Tohru's closest friends, and she eventually freed herself from the gang with the help of Tohru's mother. Uo chan is very protective of Tohru, she has to keep her way from those over zealous Yuki lovers whom resents Tohru because she's always with "The Prince". Uo-chan wears long skirt and is quite tomboyish, and she's always arguing with Kyo whom she calls the "orange head".

Name: Hanajima Saki, or Hana-chan Age: 16~17 Height: 162 cm Weight: 52kg Blood type: AB Sign: Aries Her name symbolizes flower. ^^

Hana-chan is somewhat a physic, she is the eccentric girl who has the ability to send and receive "electrical waves". Therefore, she is very sensitive and quite gothic. She wears a lot of blacks. (She has a black cape! ^o^''' ) She is a good friend of Tohru's and she's also very protective of her. Hana-chan has a younger brother Megumi, whom has the ability to curse people ^^'''~

Name: Sohma Akito Age: 16~18 ? Height: 163.8 cm Weight: 43 kg Blood type: AB Sign: Cancer Chinese Zodiac: Ermm... I don't think he has one since he's considered to be the God.

Akito is very manipulative, he's the head of the Sohma family, he controls everything, and he's rather frail physically despite his evil looks. He was told on the day he was born that he is going to die. Akito is a very mysterious character, and he does not seem to like Tohru very much.
