Chrono Trigger is only the best Game in the whole wide Squaresoft. It's got the greatest plot, aside from a select few games that are even better. Namely Terranigma, I might dedicate a page to that too. Anyway. Chrono Trigger starts off in an alternate universe at the turn of the 1st millennium BC. You play as Chrono for almost the whole time aside from a point a lot later in the game near the end. You go to the Millenial Fair in your town and meet this girl who'll call herself Marle Then you go to see your inventor friend Lucca at the far end of the festival. You go into a telapod and come out the other side and Marle will say it looks like fun and she wants to go on it too. But she's got a pendant and when she goes into the Telapod she's transported through time. And the Story continues from there. It creates a gate through time and you start to find a whole bunch of other gates that lead to different times. Eventually you end up at the End of Time when you try to go with more than 3 people in your group.
I'd like to call attention to the ending of the game though. The ending of a game usually depends on how much I like it. But if its an anime also I like it as a general rule. But back to the ending of the game.
S P O I L E R
Warning!
When you start to fight Lavos, after you defeat the outer shell of Lavos you drop inside and start to defeat the second form . And I'm pretty sure that after you defeat the 2nd form the smartest person in the group. Either Lucca or Robo, or perhaps Magus, depends on who's in your group, will state their theory of why they were sent on this. They say that people state that you see your whole life flash before your eyes before you die and maybe they were seeing someone else's memories and that someone wanted them to see all of these things for a reason. (I don't think you find out why or who it was who showed you all of their memories, it's up to much interpretation.) I personally think that they are Lavos's memories, though I'm not exactly sure why. But if you do it right then he'll be dying. You also find you that Lavos is the ultimate creature in evolution and it holds DNA of everything in the world. Which, if you tried to beat Lavos in the beginning, is why it can change into all of those different monsters. Also, at the end of the game Chrono's mother and his cat get sucked into the Time portal and you jump in to save her and at the credits is a very beautiful flying scene in the Epoch over all of the times in the game, except Zeal I think.
This ending is not only very thought provoking, in such a way I wish I had written it down, but it also left room for many of my favorite thing, FANFICS!!! I love fanfics, they're the best in the world. I plan on putting my fanfics up on my website if I ever actually complete one. Which I'm on the verge of doing. The only ending to a game I like more so far is Terranigma. It was so awe inspiring, yet very very sad at the same time. |
