*- Romance Story Line -*
Over a thousand years ago was a time known as the Silver Millenium. It was a time of peace and serenity throughout our galaxy and at the heart of it all was the White Moon Kingdom. It was ruled by a loving, fair and just ruler, Queen Serenity.
Queen Serenity had a daughter named Princess Serena who she was teaching to continue on in her footsteps and rule as she was. Not far from the Moon was a planet called Earth and on this planet was a young prince by the name of Prince Darien.
The Prince fell in love with the Princess, but because of the presence of an evil force from the Negaverse known as the Megaforce that took control of the people of Earth, they were forbidden to be together. Prince Darien, however, was not taken over by the Megaforce and fled to the Moon to be with his beloved Princess Serena.
He went to the Moon the night of a ball that they were having and disguised himself in a black tuxedo and wore a white face mask to hide his face. When Princess Serena walked down the stair case he placed his hand attop hers and she immediatley knew that it was her beloved Prince Darien. They danced together for the last time that night.
Now, I'm not 100% sure where this part goes in the story, but it is kind of important. One night while they were together, Princess Serena gave Prince Darien a star locket wth a crecent moon inside it. Upon opening it it plays the Sailor Moon Theme Song, the song of their love, that way he would always know that she loved him and that they were meant to be together.
Back on Earth, however, was a woman by the name of Queen Beryl, who had fallen in love with Prince Darien and wanted him for herself. When she and her minions attacked the Moon Palace she told Prince Darien to come and be with her and his life would be spared, but he could no longer be with Princess Serena.
Prince Darien refused this, of course and sacrificed his life to save the life of Princess Serena when Queen Beryl tried to attack her. Queen Beryl had the mentality that if she could not have Darien then no one would.
Queen Serenity had wathced helplessly has her only daughter died at the hands of the evil woman and, using the last ounce of her power she sent all of them, Princess Serena, Prince Darien, the other children of the Moon and those controlled by the Megaforce to a new life on Earth. This way her daughter and all those who cared for her would not be destroyed and they could have a new life.
In order for them to have a new life, however, Queen Serenity erased all memories they had of their previous life on the Moon, but left them with enough knowledge of their previous lives that they could stop the Megaforce if it ever again tried to control the Universe.
Once on Earth, Princess Serena and Prince Darien took on new lives as Serena and Darien and knew nothing of one another. Darien had no memory of any kind of past what-so-ever, after going through a tragic car crash at a young age in which his Earth parents were killed, and knew only the name Darien.
The two of them did meet up again, however and while in a battle with those from the Negaverse, remembered their pasts and how much they cared for each other. They remembered them just long enough to forget them, sadly enough, for once the battle had ended they again lost their memories and went back to their lives as they had once been. (End of Season 1)
This was not the last time the two of them would go through battle and remember the love they have for each other. In the next season, two other beings from the Negaverse come to Earth and the love of Serena and Darien is tested once more.
Only this time it is tested by two people who want either of them for themselves. In a battle with Ann and Alan (Doom Tree Series), Serena is the only one who has her memories and the alien Ann insisits that she denounce her love for Darien and when she refuses Darien realizes that Serena loves him. Later on, during this same battle, Darien saves Serena/Sailor Moon's life and remembers, again, how much he loves her. At the end of the episode everything seems to be perfect.... Until the next season of course.
At the start of Sailor Moon R, Serena tells Darien how perfect everything is and they share a loving kiss, but in the middle of this kiss something unexpected happens.
A small child, of about 6 years old, falls from the sky and lands on top of Darien demanding the Silver Emperium Crystal from Serena. This small child turns out to be the Small Lady, Reeni, their daughter in the future. While Reeni is with them, their love is tested further. Especially when one takes into consideration that Darien is Reeni's father and she doesn't want anyone else near him
Darien has a dream, placed in his mind by his future self, telling him to stay away from Serena or she will surely perish. Being the gentleman that he is and havng so much love for her, he does as his dream tells him and completely isolates himself from her.
Only he doesn't tell her why and he continues to allow Reeni to visit him, making Serena think that in some way this 6 year old little girl has taken her place in Darien's heart.
They, of course, over come this battle when they visit the future and see things as they are and discover why Reeni left her own time in search of the Silver Emperium Crystal.
They go head to head with the source of the evil things occuring in Cyrstal Tokyo, Reeni's home in the future, and defeat him, with the help of Reeni. (End of Season R)
I haven't seen of all of the S and Super S seasons and I have yet to see the Stars season, but what I do know is that Reeni again returns to "present day Tokyo," only this time to train to become a Sailor Scout. Which can only lead one to believe that the eternal love of Serena and Darien does go on and surpasses all of the evil that has tried to stop them.
They become Neo-Queen Serenity and King of the Earth. They have their daughter Reeni, Neo-Princess Serena and rule Earth together from Crystal Tokyo, ensuring a happy and peaceful life, not only for themselves and their daughter, but for the other Sailor Scouts, all human beings on Earth and everyone in our Galaxy and the Universe.
