MOVIES!
I currently own all three of the Sailor Moon movies, the R and Super S movies in dubbeds VHS format and the S movie in DVD format.
Name: Sailor Moon R Movie (The Promise of the Rose)
Producer: Pioneer
Format: Dubbed, VHS tape
Price: around $14
Where I got it: Best buy
Review: Definintely a good movie! The ending was really dramatic and angsty...I was almost in tears. And I loved learning how Serena and Darien meet! Basically, Darien's old friend Fiore comes back to see him...he looks like he's an alien of the same race as Alan and Ann. But he's possesed by the evil Kisenian blossom, who steals energy.Unfortunately, the dubbing job, frankly, sucks. The story doesn't suffer too much, though.
Name: Sailor Moon S Movie (Hearts In Ice)
Producer: Pioneer
Format: DVD (contains unedited dub and sub, plus extras)
Price: $30.00, I think
Where I got it: Suncoast
Review: While there wasn't anything especially bad about this movie, there wasn't anything especially striking about it either. The story focuses around Luna's crush on an astronomer who believes that there is a princess on the moon. Meanwhile, and evil snow queen, Kaguya, is planning to take over the Earth. The extras on this DVD weren't anything special, but being able to watch it both dubbed and subtitled was awesome - the dub being very badly done, as usual.
Name: Sailor Moon SuperS: Black Dream Hole
Producer: Pioneer
Format: Dubbed VHS
Price: Around $14
Where I got it: Suncoast video
Review: Cute...but kinda plotless. Evil Badiyanu is taking away all the Earth's children to power her black dream hole, but one of her fairy helpers, Pereru (he'ssocute!), meets Rini and wonders whether they're doing the right thing. I've been told that it wouldn't have seemed so bad except for the awful dubbing, which I can easily believe. It's nice enough if you happen to have $15 extra dollars and nothing else to buy.
