Ah, the pot bellied pig. Anna's (my daughter) friend Stacey gave her one when she was a junior in high school. Heifer Lee Derrick was quite a pig. Heif was just one of the family. At first she could stand in an out stretched hand, but she grew quickly. Did you know that pigs:
  • Don't see very well.
  • Love to play, but their teeth are razor sharp.
  • Sleep with their head covered.
  • Are very scary to small children and dogs, because they can't figure out what they are.
  • Don't have sweat glands and must lay in the mud to keep cool.
  • Don't like the water.
  • Live for one thing...ROOT.
  • Are very frightened of trains.

    I was taking a snowboarding class at Vail, Colorado in 1999. My instructor interrupted the class to ask that question. I had borrowed the board from my friend Larry, he had that carved into the bottom of the board. From then on that was my name. Those people never forgot that. Even days after when I would see one of those folks on the mountain, that is what they would call me.
