GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING LOTION:
- Heat both phases to approximately 60 C. Pour the water phase into the oil phase; mix well for several minutes. When fairly cool, pour into containers.
NOTE: If you are not using a preservative (ie. germaben II at 1 %) and an antioxidant (Rosemary Oil Extract, also known as ROE, or vitamin E), then you'll need to use up these lotions within a month, at the most.

VARIATIONS ON LOTION RECIPES:
- try substituting different oils for the grape seed oil. I personally always use grape seed oil because it absorbs very quickly and has an extremely high linoleic acid content.
- try substituting herbal teas or floral waters for the water in each recipe. For example, you could try using rose water (soothing and smells nice) or a chamomile tea (great for the skin!).
-if you don't want to use beeswax, then there are other waxes that you can use instead: orange wax, jasmine wax, carnauba wax, and candellila wax are some options available.
- try substituting virgin coconut oil for the regular coconut oil. It's a bit more pricey and difficult to find, but if you like the smell of coconut, then it's well worth it!
-scent your lotions with essential oils. Use one drop of essential oil per two ml of lotion. Generally, you should avoid the use of citrus oils (lemon, bergamot, etc.), cinnamon, rosemary, hyssop, and fennel on the skin. Some oils to try out are Lavender (relaxing), Ylang-Ylang(beautiful floral scent) Vanilla (familiar!)
