Chamomile Fields Shampoo
Ingredients:
4 bags of Chamomile tea (or 1 handful of fresh Chamomile flowers)
4 tablespoons pure soap flakes
1 1/2 tablespoons glycerin*
Directions:
Let the tea bags steep in 1 1/2 cups of boiled water for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and with the remaining liquid add the soap flakes. Let stand until the soap softens. Stir in glycerin until mixture is well blended. Pour into a bottle. Keep in a dark, cool place.*Glycerin: A transparent sweet liquid, a by-product of soapmaking. Glycerin is used in many cosmetic products. It acts as a humectant. Which means it retains moisture. You can purchase it at most drug stores or health food stores.

Soapwart Shampoo
Ingredients:
2 cups water
1 1/2 tablespoons dried soapwart root (chopped) (most health food stores would carry this)
2 teaspoons Lemon Verbena or 2 teaspoons Catnip
Directions:
Bring water to a boil add soapwart and simmer, cover for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, add herb then allow mixture to cool. Strain the mixture keeping the liquid. Pour into a bottle. Makes enough for 6-7 shampoos. Must be used within 8-10 days. Store in a cool dark place.

Dry Shampoo
1/2 cup Cornstarch
Directions
Sprinkle the cornstarch in your hair, let it absorb for a few minutes, brush it out. This is great if you are in a pinch.
Herbal Shampoo Base
Crush or grind soapwort root.
Place ground root in a glass bowl.
Bring water to a boil.
Once boiling, poor over ground root at let steep an hour and a half.
Once cooled completely, filter through a coffee filter or cheese cloth into a clean glass bottle or jar.
Add your choice of essential oils.
Tips:
If using herbs, add them to the bowl and steep with the soapwort.
You will need to use more than you normally would with commercially prepared shampoos.
Don't be alarmed if you don't get the same lather as commercial shampoos.

Mild Lavender Shampoo (1 cup, 240 ml)
3/4 cup (180 ml) Distilled water
1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml) Xanthan gum (thickener)
1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml) Lemon juice
1/4 cup (60 ml) Coco betaine (surfactant)
3 Tbsp. (45 ml) Polyglucose (surfactant)
25 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Egg Shampoo #2
1 egg
1 tsp olive oil
1 tsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp castile soap
1/2 cup water or herbal tea
Drop of fragrant essential oil of your choice (optional)
Combine all in blender and whip until smooth. Shampoo with mixture using warm, not hot water for the shampoo and rinse. Store any remaining shampoo in the refrigerator for use the next day.

Nana's Egg Shampoo
1 large egg separated
3 Tbsp castile soap
In a bowl, beat egg white until foamy. Blend in yolk followed by the castile soap. Wet hair with warm water. Massage half the egg shampoo into scalp. Rinse well then massage remaining shampoo into scalp. Leave on hair about 1 min. Rinse thoroughly with warm water

Herbal Shampoo
1/4 cup of your favorite herbal tea, strongly brewed
8 oz liquid castile soap
Add soap to tea. Stir over low heat until well blended. Store in a capped bottle

Dandruff Shampoo
#1
5 T olive oil
few drops oil of rosemary
#2
2 oz cider vinegar
2 oz water
1 tsp your favorite cologne (if you
don't like the smell of vinegar)

Combine the oils under #1 and comb it through your hair. Cover your head with a plastic shower cap or Baggie for at least 1/2 hour (overnight is better - if you can stand it). Next, combine the ingredients under #2 and rinse out the oils.
