There is a place in my garden,
Behind the wishing well
Where all the fae folk do gather;
In a hollow little hill.

They like to help in my garden,
and nibble my fruit, divine.
And when they come out, to play with me
We have a most joyous time.

Faeries are wonderful little creatures, along with the rest of the fae folk. There are, of course, different species of faeries, good faeries, and evil faeries. Faerie lore dates back to the celts. Did you know that the Isle of Man is also known as Faerie Isle? It is rich in farie lore. Avalon is another famous faerie island, for King Arthur was brought here when he was mortally wounded. He was tended to by four Faerie Queens. And it is still believed that he, along with his knights, lie in the heart of faerie hill, in a deep slumber, to be awakened again in our hour of need.

Information from "Faeries" by Brian Froud, and Alan Lee

Faerie lore is really very fascinating. I do reccomend that book. It has a listing of all the different types of faeries, and the illustations are rather beautiful.
