The most wonderful of all things in life, I believe, is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a glowing depth, beauty, and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing, it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident.

I believe the quote by Sir Hugh Walpoe most aptly sums up what I think of this relationship with Qi, my godsister... For who would have thought what started out during one of those boring aerobics sessions we had would have developed into such a wonderful relationship? Funnily it all began as some trade-off, whereby we were supposed to become godsisters so that we receive more presents during our birthdays. Unfortunately, while I conveniently forgot about the arrangement, Qi did remember, and sent me a cute card... *guilty* With more sessions of physical torture together, we discovered our common interests. We bonded quickly and soon, the relationship took off...

Personally it's really funny that two gals from different classes, different levels and opposing extra-curricular activities would become close friends, but we did. Year after year, we communicated our joys, our fears, our anguish and all the little bits of news in our lives others would have found boring to each other. Each letter, each phone call and each moment spent at the cinema, bowling alley, etc lay the foundation of our friendship. Yes I do believe cliched as it sounds, that Qi and I will be friends forever. Seperation into different schools did nothing to change our relationship. If anything, it caused us to become more mature, to realise that to be close friends we do not have to be physically close. We widened our circles by introducing friends from other cliques to each other. We treasured the rare times spent together. We conveyed more with less words said.

What more can I ask for? I have a sister who listens to my woes, no matter how pathetic my problems are, or how busy she is. I have a buddy who does not mind all my idiosyncracies, who puts up with my weird character and actually appears to enjoy my company. I have a confidante who is trustworthy, humorous, fun to be with, considerate, sweet and caring.

I can only hope that each year will continue to bring us closer together.

Thank you for being my friend...
