Critical Theory

Critical Theory in the 20^th century posed numerous challenges to the notions of “author,” “text” and “reader” and called into question the “location of meaning”. Where does meaning arise from? Are texts inherently meaningful? Does the intention of the author determine the meaning? Or is meaning produced by the reader instead?
