Identifying Fake Cards
In my opinion, the most important thing is to know what cards in a series are prisms. This is because, it seems to me, most fake cards are prismatic sticker cards. I will be making a page in the next few days that lists which cards in each series are prisms. Another thing is to know the characteristics of the cards in each series. You can see my identifying card page, or similar websites (I'll put up some links soon). There are also cards that are not fakes but were printed in Hong Kong or Taiwan or somewhere other than Japan. These are usually sold cheaper. I'm not sure how they compare quality wise to the original Japanese, but if you are a purist, make sure they say made in japan! Also note that manga cards are almost always home-made sticker cards. They can be quite nice, but don't pay a lot for them, as they are not part of a registered set. The exception to this is Nakayoshi cards, which are extremely rare. I'll find some images to post here. Updated on 6/29/06

Note to self: fake stickers usually not actually prismatic, but shiny... laser cards? Is that what they are called? Find out and put up examples. Also, note that fake prisms/lasers are usually flimsier than the real thing.
