Suicide is the third leading cause for young people nationally.  For the age group of 15-19 years, it is the second leading cause of death.
Eleven people between the ages of 15-24 die everyday by their own hand.
The fastest growing age group for suicide is 10-14 year olds.
The majority of adoloescents who die by suicide use a fire arm.
For everyone one female who completes suicide, four males do.  This is because men tend to use more forceful ways, such as fire arms.
But, for every three females who attempt suicide, only one male attempts it.
The rate of youth suicide has tripled since the 1950's.

There are three suicide deaths for every two homicide deaths.
Twice as many people die from suicide than from HIV/AIDS.
On an average day, 84 people die from suicide, and an estimated 1,838 people attempt it.
Every seventeen minutes, someone in this country dies as a result of suicide.
Suicide takes the lives of over 30,000 Americans a year.
