Chapter 2

Terra screamed and her sigil glowed, spreading bronze light throughout the car. But it was too late to try to stop it. She hurriedly threw up a shield around Braden, but it was pitifully weak. The car crunched against the other car and all went black.

Serena was sitting at the computer, posting a message for Darien on their private message board, when she fell off her chair. She could feel one of her friends in danger. Quickly she transformed, which she hadn’t done in months and began to try and find Terra. She was just jumping onto the 5th rooftop when she was nearly knocked down by the blast of urgency coming from below, about two blocks ahead. She looked ahead to see all the traffic lights turn green at the same time. She felt like she was moving in slow motion as she watched the bronze light burst out of the car far below, heard Terra scream and their car smash into a minivan also crossing the intersection. The car was smashed and then caught on fire.

Sailor Moon leapt off the building sending out a desperate plea for help through the communicators then took off at a run for the accident scene. She bravely grasped the burning metal of Braden’s car in her hands and tugging with all her might. Miraculously, she was able to pull it off. She reached in and pulled out Braden, and laid him gently on the grass. He looked bad, as he was all smashed up. She returned to the car and brought a still glowing Terra over to the grass. She was much more hurt than Braden. It was obvious she had shielded him, but not herself. Sailor Moon went to the minivan and attempted to rip off the driver side door, but to no avail until she felt another set of hands help her yank. Dimly she heard a voice yell "Deep Submerge!" and she looked up to see Sailor Uranus helping her. The door finally gave way and Uranus lifted the woman in the driver’s seat. Sailor Moon crawled inside the van and gently lifted the near dead child out of the passenger seat, and handed her to Neptune, who had come to help get out the victims, now that the fire was in control. She looked in the back seat and was confronted by the sight of 5 more children, one obviously dead and another probably the youngest whimpering softly as she took in the scene. Moon’s heart broke as she quickly unhooked the toddler from the child seat and escaped from the car with her.

"It’s OK little one," she comforted the child. "You’re safe now." She carried the child over to Saturn, who was trying to heal the victims and tried to put the child down, but the child clung to her and shook her head. "But honey," Sailor Moon protested, "I need to go back for the other kids in there. Now you be good and stay here with Saturn." With that she placed the child next to Saturn and ran to the van again, brushing past Uranus, Saturn and Mercury (who had arrived and was helping get out the victims) who were all carrying a child. Sailor Moon struggled to get the last child, the one who couldn’t possibly have survived out of the seatbelt. Behind her the girl who she had left with Saturn climbed into the van, heading towards a small stuffed bunny that was laying near her seat. ‘I have to get my bunny,’ she thought. Sailor Moon finally got the body free of the seatbelt and left the van with it. She saw the fire spreading toward the gas tank of Braden’s car. She had just rounded the van when she noticed that the kid was not where she had left her. Quickly she shoved the body at Uranus who had come to help her and dashed back to the minivan. She leaped into it and searched franticly for the child. Spotting her, she scooped her up again and flung the two of them out of the van just as Braden’s car exploded, taking the minivan with it.
