Stalker of Moonlight

Chapter 1

He watched as she left the building with her friends. God, she was beautiful. He watched as she tossed her long blond hair and said something to her friend Lita, and all of them started laughing. How he longed to hold her in his arms. He would have his chance he vowed as he slipped behind the wheel of his sports car, to follow them home. He followed them to a private university where another girl got in their car, then to their apartment. All seven girls piled out and headed to the apartment building. He pulled his car into the underground parkade for the residents of his building, which was right next to her building. He parked his car and took the elevator up to the seventh floor, where his apartment was. Taking up watch in his kitchenette, he looked into their living room/den. All the girls were in there, some studying, some watching TV, some on the computer, and three girls were doing aerobic exercises. She was exercising. Serena, what a beautiful name, and it fit that angelic face with deep blue eyes and soft golden hair. Serena and Bobby, what a perfect couple they would be. He watched in fascination as Serena did her cardiovascular workout, perfectly in synch with the music he could hear from the apartment. For the next 15 minutes he watched, dazedly. Her friend Molly turned off the stereo and Serena went to take a shower. He knew that every day after she did her physical activity she would take a shower. Then she would return to her room, dress, and do some studying. He hurried to his bedroom waiting for her to come into her room. He was so lucky that his bedroom looked straight into hers. She opened the door between her room and the bathroom and entered into her room, swathed in a fluffy pink towel. She crossed the room and pulled the outer curtains across her balcony doors. "Damn!" he swore to his picture covered walls.

Serena zipped up her blue dress, pulled her hair into a loose braid and pulled on matching blue shoes. Lastly she fastened the chain with the engagement ring Darien had given her around her neck and tucked it under her dress. "I hope I can tell them about the engagement soon," she thought. She was going out to dinner with her family and she had to bring ‘a nice boy from your classes’ with her, according to her mother. "Thank god all my friends are nice enough to "lend" me their boyfriends or fiancés for these evenings," she thought gratefully. She knew from experience that her parents were not happy when she was dating Darien, who was 7 years older than her. "Just wait till I tell them about our engagement," she smiled. She left her room and Terra looked up and raised an eyebrow. "If I didn’t trust you like I do or I wasn’t already engaged to Braden, I’d get kinda worried about letting you borrow him," she teased. "Hey," Serena protested, " you’re not the only one who has the perfect fiancé. It’s just that my parents will freak at the age of mine!" They both began to laugh. Just then the intercom beeped and Braden’s voice came over it. "Hey ladies, Braden’s dates for hire service has arrived." Serena and Terra giggled and Serena pushed the admittance/talk button. "Come on up, Sir Date for Hire. I eagerly await your services this evening." A minute later he knocked on the door and gained admittance. Bowing extravagantly to the two women, he presented each of them a white rose corsage and a long stemmed rose. Terra’s was a unique coppery red-brown colour matching her hair and Serena’s was a delicate pink. She rushed to the kitchenette to put it in water. "Braden, where did you get such a beautiful flower?" Terra whispered. He pulled her into his arms and whispered "I had it specially made just for you, and there’s more of them for you at the greenhouse." He kissed her and Serena called from the kitchen, "So when are you two going to tie the knot? Have you decided on a month yet, let alone date?" She walked out and found them kissing and sighed wistfully. "I can’t wait for the 20th to come. Finally Darien can come up that weekend to visit me, but until then I have to make due with e-mail and the occasional phone call. You two are so lucky to be living in the same city. I’ll be right back, I’m just going to put the flower in my room."

10 minutes later Serena and Braden were in his car, driving to the restaurant where they were going to meet her family.

"Thanks for doing this Braden. Hopefully Darien and I can announce our engagement soon, so I won’t have to steal all of you guys whenever my parents are in town. Now remember, we met at the coffee shop where you met Terra and it’s the same story except it’s not Terra you met it’s me. I think we’ll only be there for about an hour, then you can drop me off and go out with Terra."

"Sounds great Serena, and no problem. It’ll be fun to have dinner with you and your family. I don’t mind, you’re my friend and so is Darien."

"Thanks Braden, you’re a real pal. Turn left here and it’s just a few blocks away." He grinned at her and nodded. They pulled into the restaurant parking lot and as Serena was getting out, she slipped and fell on her butt. Quickly her eyes filled with tears and she started wailing. From inside the restaurant Serena’s family sweatdropped and Sammy muttered, "Serena’s here." His date looked confused and innocently asked, "Shouldn’t we go help that poor dying animal out there, maybe call the S.P.C.A or something?" They groaned, slipped down in their seats and sweatdropped even harder. The date looked at them and said, "Was it something I said?" Just then Serena and Braden walked in, Serena rubbing her butt and commenting that she hoped there wasn’t a mark.

"Hey Serena, over here!" Ilene called. She waved them over to the table. "And who is this?" she asked referring to Braden. "Mom, Dad, Sammy, and Tiffany, this is Braden, my date for tonight.

"It’s nice to meet you Braden, what are you majoring in?" Serena’s father asked.

"Well my major is in political sciences and I want to become a DA," Braden answered. The conversation drifted to other things.

Across the isle Bobby sat at a double person table watching Serena with her happy family and that date of hers. That lowlife scum, he had seen him around campus with Serena’s roommate Terra. They were an item and a hot one at that. Was he two-timing Serena? Well even if he wasn’t he would pay. He was the only one who could date Serena, he’d show him! About an hour later he saw Serena and Braden start to make the signs of leaving soon. He quickly got his check and went out to wait for them.

Not five minutes later, the two exited the restaurant and got into the car. He trailed them all the way back to the apartments, where they talked for about a minute and Serena got out and into her building. Braden parked and opened a book and read for about 10 minutes until Terra came out of the building and got in the car. She was all dressed up for dancing and he swung the car out towards the most popular dancing hangout on campus. He fumed. He swung his car out from his lot and followed them, his laptop on his steering wheel. Quickly he punched in some commands, then right before Braden’s car reached the intersection, he hit the activate button. All the traffic lights went green all at the same time. He watched and laughed like a maniac as he heard the sickening crunch of metal on metal as Braden’s car hit another one.
