Our Lady of Liberty
She has welcomed millions to her shores
and watched generation after generation
flourish in the United States of America.
She has welcomed the weary,
the persecuted,
the impoverished,
and her own returning from their travels.
On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001,
she watched her beloved country attacked.
Attacked by those with no value for human life.
Attacked by those with no value for anything
other than their own selfish interests of terrorism.
Murderers who prey upon the innocent.
Murderers who masquerade as human beings.
Our Lady of Liberty witnessed destruction and suffering,
but before the smoke cleared,
she also witnessed what makes her country great and powerful.
Her people united in a bond of togetherness.
A bond of unselfish help, caring, prayer,
and a determination to see that
the attackers are punished.
A bond which ensures that those responsible
for the horrors brought upon her country
will pay for their actions.
A bond that has always, and will always,
make her country and it's people,
The UNITED States of America.
