There are several types of dragons ranging in power and size/color and skill.

* Crystalais Dragon: A dragon whose scales seem to hold not true color but all colors, its body is a smooth as glass but hard as the toughest crystal. He has three sets of wings off of his back. The largest dragon in creation, he is the lord of all dragons, and a rumored myth. There is only one Crystalais in existence.

* Thorn Dragons: Thorn Dragons are the second largest breed of dragon. They are a dragon race with smooth, sleek scaled bodies and thorns all over their bodies, with spiked tails. Thorns are usually your 'evil' dragons, though there are some good ones. Some of this breed has poison in their fangs, claws or thorns.

~ Black-Thorn Dragon: Their most prominent magic is Darkness.

~ White-Thorn Dragon: Their most prominent magic is Electricity/Lightening.

~ Red-Thorn Dragon: Their most prominent magic is Fire.

~ Blue-Thorn Dragon: Their most prominent magic is Water/Cold.

~ Green-Thorn Dragon: Their most prominent magic is Earth/Air.

* Flare Dragons: Flares are medium sized dragons and usually the breed that humans try to catch to ride and keep as steeds. A solid furred dragon breed with a large mane on their heads of a differing color form the rest of their bodies and face. The same shaded fur in the mane runs down the neck in some on this breed, and also has plumes of fur around its ankles and off the end of its tail. Some have tufted furry ears that resemble anywhere from those of a floppy-eared dog, to those of a horse. Under the fur on the tails of MOST Flare dragons are long quills that lay flat under the fur, unless the dragon is angered or threatened, then they become erect and stick out along the length of the tail like a porcupine. Under the fur is usually a simple thick leathery skin, though some of this breed have smooth rounded, small scales that are usually visible through the fur at times..

~ White-flare: White flares come in white shades of fur (i.e. Cream, Off White, Pure White, Beige, and Yellow-White), the color of the mane, back fur, and wrist/ankle/tail fur can be any assortment of altering shades of color also. Some of them have the quills under their fur, but they also dont have to. Those that do have the quills have long, smooth quills that come to a sharp point and they CAN project them out of their bodies into an opponent, the quill will eventually grown back (like a porcupine quill it grows soft and then hardens like the others). White Flares usually have scales under the fur that are of rainbow tint, resembling the lines that run through an opal. They are usually a docile, peaceful member of the breed.

~ Black-flare Dragon: Fur is usually of grays, blacks, or sometimes even has speckled patterns of similar colors. Black Flares always have the quills under their fur, however theirs are barbed, so every quill is covered in a sharp prickly coating. They are usually the opposite of White Flares, tending to be darker in nature, not as strong but still very powerful magically.

~ Red flare Dragon: Fur coloring can be any assortment of red (i.e. Red, Orange, Red-Orange, Pinks, even Reddish-browns, and sometimes shades of brown.) They has shorter quills on their spines than White or Black Flares, if any at all. Their heads are a little blockier than the others, which are narrower.

~ Blue-flare Dragon: Fur coloring can be any assortment of blue (i.e. dark blue, light blue, ice blue, teal blue, turquoise, and they can go into the purple shades of color as well, all the way to indigo, etc.) They have finer fur than other Flares on their bodies, their manes are usually shorter, and they most always have leathery skin instead of scales under the fur. Their tails are much longer and more fluid in movement than others due to their tendency to live amphibious, using the tail on land and in water for balance. They also have nostrils that close up completely under water and membranes that can go over their eyes to enable them to see underwater. They have wedge-shaped heads to easily move through air or water. They also can have webbing between their toes depending on how aquatic the individual Blue Flare is. They have very small, smooth quills on their backs that are more like spikes when erect, so their elongated claws are usually their major defense.

~ Green-flare Dragon: Fur coloring can be any assortment of green (i.e. Forest green, emerald, olive-green, light green, mint, yellow-green, etc.) Their fur is usually thicker, bushier, fuller, and longer than the other Flares. Their quills are more pronounced, constantly visible as a  series of smooth curves going down their spines. When the quills are erect they are curved back like a hook.  Their wings are coated completely in a fine, short fur that doesn't effect their flight, and their wings are larger to help in flight, extending from their shoulders down to their tails.
