Sea Cave
This was the 1st of many attempts of to create this scene, yet it still remains my favourite, despite
numerous attempts at trying to improve it. Its something about the cold, dark water that keeps drawing
me back.
In other versions of this scene, I have experimented with using a more transparent water with a much
lower refraction index, thus allowing what is underneath the water to show through. That is how I initially
pictured this scene, but as of yet my attempts haven't been as successful as this version , nevertheless,
I'll keep persisting.
Anyway, down to this scene, it consists of 4 vertical landscapes to create the walls, there is 2 main
walls slightly leaning inwards, then these have been duplicated and moved down about halfway, then tilted
at a lesser angle, to give the impression of the walls forming a v shape underneath the waters surface
somewhere. The rock near the opening to the cave, another Bryce generated landscape, adds to this impression.
The scene is finished off with the water plane, and the sky. I initially placed the sun so that it was
visible in the sky, shining right down the middle of the cave, but this yielded poor shadow effects, so
instead the sun is positioned just to the right of the image, yet there is still enough glare to form
interesting reflections in the water. Post render work was carried out in Photoshop to adjust the levels,
and add a little sharpening.
