Ancient Egypt has been credited with being the first country to domesticate the cat.
Egypt is also the only one that worshipped cats as Gods.
Cat Goddess Bastet, daughter of Isis and Osiris was also referred to as Bast or Pasht, depending on which region one came from. Historians believe that our word *Puss* is derived from the Egyptian word Pasht. Earlier sculptures showed Bastet as lion-headed, but gradually she took the shape of the human body with the head of a cat - the human form occasionally being replaced by cat's limbs and tail. She wore a long dress richly embroidered and often she carried three symbols: a basket, a sistrum (musical rattle) and a small shield.
Osiris, the Sun God, husband to Isis and father of
Bastet was also called *Ra*. Besides being the much worshipped Sun God
he was also known as the god of the underworld and was responsible for the protection
of the souls of the dead.
- Isis, beautiful wife of Osiris and mother of Bastet was the sun, moon
and earth goddess. She was adored and worshipped as the goddess of
motherhood and fertility.

The Sphinx has been carved from the bedrock of the Giza plateau.
This magnificent symbol of Eqypt has the body of a lion, the head
of a god and symbolizes strength and wisdom. Let's go and enter
the temple between its great paws and pray for
Love, Health and Happiness for every living creature.
