I am not a diehard "I only listen to underground, I have every b-side from every band that ever existed" music fan. But without music, life would be much less enjoyable. With the exception of twangy country and folk, I like, or can tolerate, just about anything, though I'm very much partial to "alternative rock." I've recently rediscovered 80's music (thank you Time-Life infomercial). Depeche Mode, The Cure, Duran Duran, The Thomson Twins - great stuff! Goin' back to the roots!
As for my more current tastes, examples (in no particular order) say it best...
Linkin Park - My driving music. Hybrid Theory is one of very few cd's with 100% quality songs. I love the mix of beat and rock... thank you, Mr. Haaaaaaaaaanh.
Jimmy Eat World - The songs played on the radio and MTV are just the tip of the iceburg. Clarity is definitely worth checking out.
The Smashing Pumpkins - Though no more, their music should not be forgotten! My recommendation: Siamese Dream. One of their earlier albums (and my personal favorite), it's a good mix of lively and depressing - an SP sampler, if you will.
Coldplay - Some of my favorite depressing music. I've never found myself depressed, but sometimes you need some mellow music for those dreary moments.
Dave Matthews Band - Yes, I'm one of those. Sorry, but he's a sexy, sexy man who plays (along with his band) sexy, sexy songs. Another sexy, sexy man who is often compared to Dave is up-and-coming John Mayer. Yummy!
Operation Ivy - I still have a special place in my heart for some ole skool punk/ska.
Lagwagon - Have some love for the local punk boys! "Santa Barbara boredom, Goleta post-mortem..."
Current Winamp Playlist:
1. "Starry-Eyed Surprise" - Paul Oakenfold
2. "The Promise" - When in Rome
3. "Objection (Tango)" - Shakira
4. "Pretty Baby" - Vanessa Carlton
