Rapture? Is it for Real?

By Marilyn Oliver

For my Daughter who couldn’t understand.

When she asked me about the rapture I at first didn’t know what to say to her. About the only way I could think of to explain it to her was to get out the Bible and show her what was Written inside it.

She came to me this morning with some questions about hell, the rapture, death, and what happens to us after we die. It seems that one of her sisters-in-law had a dream and in the dream she dreamed of the rapture. She was in a room with my daughter and her husband and son when all of a sudden she started to float up to the ceiling and my daughter and her family was staying on the floor. Her sister-in-law was crying when she woke up and told her mother of the dream who interpreted it to mean that my daughter and her family was going to go to hell when they died. Her sister-in-law told her what she had dreamed and what her mother had said that it meant. Well that scared my daughter. So she came to me. She knew I studied the Bible and prayed everyday about everything. She was hoping that I could help her understand what the rapture was.

Well I told that there is no such thing as the rapture in the first place. There is nothing in the Bible about the rapture. In fact everything in the Bible contradicts the rapture theory, and according to the words of Jesus it is the other way around. She asked me where did it come from then. Well I tried to explain to her that some people believe that Jesus will come back to earth to get all his children and then the devil would take over the earth. This is the way I tried to tell her about the rapture.

It comes from a few verses in the Bible about being caught up in the air with Jesus. Which if that wasn’t the only thing in the Bible about it then I would admit that they were probably right. But the words of Jesus tells me that it is not the way it will be. He does so in the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 13 in the parable of the Tares.

Matthew Chapter 13:24-30, 36-41

[24] Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
[25] But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
[26] But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
[27] So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
[28] He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
[29] But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
[30] Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
There were men who couldn’t understand what Jesus meant by that. So when he had sent away all the people they asked him. Well read it for yourself.

[36] Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
[37] He answered and said unto them,
He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
[38] The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
[39] The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
[40] As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
[41] The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
[42] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
[43] Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
I don’t know how much clearer it could be. But still some people don’t think it will be that way.

The tare are weeds, and in a field with a crop you don’t want any weeds because it will choke some of the plants of new wheat. But like today if you go and start pulling up the weeds you might pull up the wheat at the same time. You see weeds and wheat look very much alike when they are new seedlings, very hard to tell one from another.

It is the same in humans, when we are very young near birth we all do the same thing. And except to the mother we all look alike to a lot of people. So if we could tell which babies were to grow up and be good and which ones were to be the bad ones there would be no problem. Al the bad ones would be dealt with from birth. But like the weeds and the wheat we can’t tell which child will be the doctor and which one will kill. So we let all of the children grow up. And when the ones prove to be bad we put them in prison or to death (for certain crimes).

So just like what we do with our children God does with his. He lets us all grow up and then when the time comes He will separate us from the good and from the bad. First the bad ones are removed from the good ones. For they have done wrong and must be removed. What good would it do to separate the good ones from the bad and bind up the good ones. We put the bad ones in jail on earth don’t we? Well God will do the same thing in the time of the harvest. Like it says in the Bible……………………………………………

[41] The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
[42] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
[43] Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
To me it couldn’t be much clearer.

Then she wanted to address the issue of the Mark of the beast. So for her I looked for the mention of it in the Bible and this is what I found.

[11] And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
[12] And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
[13] And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
[14] And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
[15] And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
[16] And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
[17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
[18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

So that should explain itself, but incase that it don’t then allow me to try. The number of the beast 666 will be place in the right hand or in the forehead of man. Because with it no body will be able to buy food or anything that they might need for to live. Now some people believe that the actual 666 will be able to be seen by every one. But that’s no quite right. You see the Bible said IN the right hand or IN their forehead. Not ON.

This will happen long before Christ comes back to the earth to get his people.

The first mention of Jesus return is in Chapter 19 of the book of Revelation. Here are a few of the verses..

[1] And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
[2] For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
[3] And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
[4] And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
[5] And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
[6] And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
[7] Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
In itself that don’t help too much. What is needed to read and reread the Book of Revelation over and over. And if you still have trouble understanding it pray for help. God loves to be your tutor, nothing pleases him more than to help his children learn to understand the Bible.

Prayer brings understanding brings knowledge brings wisdom. But it all starts with payer.

This kinda blows the rapture theory doesn’t it. Well it does for me.
