Pamela Martin (niece)

"I remember Ruth telling me that she was looking after me one day when I was about 3 or 4 and she had told me off for something or other and I had disappeared into another room.  When she came to look for me she found me in the living room, looking at a photograph of Ruth and sticking my tongue out at it as I was so cross at having been told off but couldn't bring myself to tell her!"

“You must feel quite upset at not being with Ruth when she went, but try and see it as Ruth having the last laugh on you.  She thought ‘thank goodness he's popped out, can't bear him being all soft on me, perhaps I can go quickly while he's not looking’.  It was the devil in her.  That was how we remember her, cheeky and mischievous with them laughing green eyes.”

“Ruth and I certainly did have some fun together and I have memories that I will never forget.  Ruth was a great girl, very kind and gentle but most of all I remember her giggles - she was always so happy no matter what situation we found ourselves in.  She will be sadly missed and I will always remember her with great affection.”
