19th of May - 17th of June 2004

During one month, Marta and me, we have been carrying out one of our dreams...taking our bag, passports and a few things and going to look for our adventure (i could compare this travel with a choose your adventure book where you never know what is going to happen or who you are going to meet but you can always choose many different ways to continue it).

Our first point was Cervere
, in France (I must say that it was quite complicated getting there, cause on the way we had to get out of the train and change to another one cause a window was broken...the best way to start!). From that day, the train became our second home. We stopped in Monpellier, Narbonne, Nancy, Munich and Berlín, where we spent some hours, and finally we arrived to Greifswald. Greifswald is a very small city situated on the north of Germany, where together with Carmen, we visited also Stralsund and the beach (although it was rather cold).

After some days with Carmen, we left the German lands to go to Poland, one of my dreamed destines. Even that, our first stop in this country, a city called  Szczecin, wasn't the best (it was a sad place...). There, I met Laszlo again (a good friend from my erasmus program). Luckely, we went from the worst city to the best ones, stopping in Warsow, Gdánsk, Ausbiche, Zakopane and Krákow. Warsow was nice, but Gdánsk and Krákow were great! Ausbiche...well, the word wouldn't be great, it would be hard, unbelievable...
A very surprising
thing in this country was that when we were on the train stations, carrying our big bags, our europe guide book...(haha) there were some people offering us accomodation (and the best is that normally this flats use to be very close to the train station and the center of the city!!). Another surprising thing is that everything is so cheap! Dinner for two? 3 euros! Buying food on the supermarket? 3 euros! Sleeping in a private flat? 5 or 6 euros!! Now you can imagine how we felt when in Italy they were asking us about 25 euros for one night!

I must mention our diet ( normally it wouldn't be an important topic, but you know, this was an interrail...) which was not splendid, well, the truth is that we were not eating on the restaurants as you can imagine but it wasn't bad at all after all, was it, Marta?

After spending one week in some Polish cities, and after spending the whole night on the train, we arrived to Prague (at 6 in the morning...good hour, don't you think?). The same night we took a train to Wien, where we arrived soon in the morning. And...can you guess what was our first visit? so..the youth hostel cause we were awfully tired! Later on we had time to visit the city as well, which is very nice and full of gardens.

Next day, we carried our bags again and we left to Bratislava, Slovaquia's capital. We found a very welcoming youth hostel, also a little bit old...Then, next day we went to Ljubliana, the capital of Slovenia. I must say that we couldn't enjoy this city at all because it was raining and we just spent half a day there, and unluckely the youth hostel wasn't the best. But on the other hand, we met some interesting people there (well, maybe peculiar would be the word), right Marta?

After visiting cities and cities, we found the paradise...Pula, a small town on the Croatian coast. We decided that we would be there more that we had planned. It's easy to explain...the youth hostel was in front on the beach, and we both ned some relaxing days! (can you imagine something better?). In this point of the travel, we had done already half of our adventure, but the truth is that I was feeling as if we had been out of home for some months already...!

A couple of days later we took a train to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia...well, not just a train but a train, a bus and another train, because the communications are not as good as we were expecting.

We spent the following night on the way to Budapest, where we stayed some days in Laszlo's place. For me it was the second time in the city, but it still have the same magic athmospere. We also visited Esztergom, a small town situated on the  north of Hungary (it's very nice but it was so hot...summer was coming: heat, tourists, compulsory reservations for the train tickets...pfff!). What was very funny was that we met Ona in Budapest (Yeah, the one from Vilafranca!), because she was travelling with her parents...

After some days thinking about our next choosing, we decided to go to Italy. Our first idea was going to Switzerland but Lucas (one of the guys we met in Ljubliana who is from there) told us that the best to visit in Switzerland was the countryside, not the cities, but we didn't have as many time as we wanted to travel from the big cities to the countryside. So, we decided not to take this option...then we thought about going to Rumania, but as we had to start thinking about the way back home, it was stupid going farther. So, finally we decided to go to Florence, Italy! It was great, but we had a little problem...we were calling to all the youth hostels of the city and the cities around it but, as it was friday, everything was so full! So...we decided to call Andrea and accupy his flat for some days. Next stop...Milan!

I have to mention that I'm also very glad that I could meet some of my erasmus friends during the travel (I hope that I can see you again very soon...maybe in Barcelona?? you know that you have a place there!), thanks to everyone!

And finally, our last point was Paris. Although it wasn't my first time there, it's a place where I wouldn't mind going back again...and it was great meeting again Laurent, Romain, Pierre, Xavi and Celine. We were walking around the city, full of tourists and very very hot...you know...

And then, our trip back home...a very long one! When we arrived to Portbou train station we could hear people talking in Spanish or Catalan and my ears got very crazy...it was like if all the voices were in my mind...! And...again on the Catalan land, after a big adverture that I won't never forget, for sure! DREAM OR REALITY...I don't know!
