The path to musical success awaits you!
Mission:
My mission of teaching is to cultivate and realize creativity through the learning of music. An inspiring atmosphere, and a grand piano is used for instruction to facilitate effective learning.
In 1989, I obtained the Performer's Certificate of the Trinity College of Music (U.K.) and in 1996 was awarded the Piano Performance Pedagogy Certificate from the University of Hong Kong. I pursued my studies in Piano Performance Pedagogy at the University of Hong Kong, and in Piano Performance, studying with Ms. Nancy Loo and Professor Philip Cohen (from the lineage of Chopin) at Concordia University (Montreal) respectively. I have also attended Gary Graffman's masterclass.
With 17 years of experience in both private and institutional teaching, I have coached students at the Liu Shih Kun Institute of Arts. I am currently an active member of the Quebec Music Teachers' Association. My teaching focuses on the traditional approach to piano performance, helping students develop a natural technique. Students are also encouraged to participate in annual recitals and public performances.
All students from my piano studio passed their piano examinations with flying colors, of which the majority attain the level of distinction in The Royal Conservatory of Music. Students also participated in competitions - of which some have won first prize and other merits. Students who decided to major in music have also succeeded in university entrance auditions. Students from my studio received the Silver Medal Awards from The Royal Conservatory Of Music Examinations in 2006 and 2007. (The silver medal is awarded to the highest scoring student in the province of Quebec in each grade level).
Courses are also offered for those who are interested in learning music, and in realizing their musical dreams of being able to play the piano.
Professional Qualifications:
Lessons are conducted in Chinese (Cantonese) and English.
