Lebanese has had its share of empires with different views. This would be the
leading reason why Lebanese have moved to Montreal ever since they could.
But they couldn?t for a long time, because of immigration laws put up by the
Canadian government. These laws were put up in the first place for Asians, but
for some reason beyond most people Middle Easterners were included. But
during World War Two many Lebanese immigrated to Montreal and the rest of
Canada. Since then almost 8,000 Lebanese try to get in to Montreal alone,
though only half of them make it in. So every year the Lebanese population of
Montreal grows and grows.
