Japanese
Pop: 2,100 Main communities: Outrement and Westmount

Japanese men have been in Canada since the 1870?s but their wives were not allowed to immigrate until 1907. For most of the last century Japanese Canadians weren?t allowed to vote, join the army, or have government jobs. Consequently educated Japanese Canadians usually found work within their community. In 1941 after the bombing of pearl harbor the war measures act was invoked and all the Japanese had their land repossessed and were relocated many of them to Montreal.
