Egyptians
It wasn?t until the 1960?s that Egyptians were allowed to come to Montreal. This has a bit to do with the fact that the officials in Canada who decided on these rules were often jumbling the Middle Easterners and the Asians together, and because in the war the Japanese were fighting against the Allies... You get the
point. One of the biggest reasons why the Egyptians wanted to leave was
because of their new president, Gamal Abdul Nasser. Both Jewish and Christian
Egyptians fled their country when he took over. So to this day we still have a
multicultural Egyptian community in itself. And from those days in the 1960?s to
these days today Egyptians have lived throughout Montreal in peace.
