MONTOUR HOCKEY FAMILY:
Sending out a "Thank You" to all
those who came out to Mt. Lebanon last night to
support the Freshman Team. It meant a lot to the
Players to see and hear the 'Big Guys' cheering them on. :)
The Freshman Team played a great game.
They played well as a team. Facing the #2 seed, the Freshman held
their own with a respectable loss with 5-4 being the outcome.
Scoring was spread-out amoung our bench. With :08
seconds left in the 1st period, #12 Justin Mudryk scored our
1st goal- a power-play, assisted by #9 (A) Michael
Harrington. 11:16 of the 2nd Period, another Montour
Goal by #14 (A) Nick Cataldo being
assisted by #18 Robert
Victorelli and #16(C) Greg Clarke.
Another goal in the
2nd Period @ 4:35 by #9 (A) Michael Harrington and
assists by #15 John Latta and #12 Justin Mudryk. At
the Second Period the score was 5-3. Our Goalie #35 Scott
Tapler kept Bishop-Canevin's team a.k.a.#38 (C) Josh Daley*,
from scoring any more goals after the second period. *#38 had 4 Goals
& 1 Assist.
At 2:07 of the third period a
goal by #11 Andy Beck, who finally warmed up his replacement
stick after breaking his starter stick early in the 2nd period by
firering off a Goal- assisted by #9 (A) Michael Harrington. Montour
was back in the game with the score being 5-4, and just over 2 minutes
left to play. Montour had pulled our goalie, but Bishop Canevin just
couldn't put any more goals in the net. At the same time, Montour
held off Bishop Canevin from scoring on the empty net. Final score
5-4.
I would also like to thank all those who
helped with admissions (Bredna Cataldo & Rene' Latta) Bob Victorelli
in the penalty box, Bill Harrington scorekeeper, and Joe Clarke
helping out on the bench.
Special thanks to those who
signed our "Petition to the Montour School Board". We have
over 70 signatures just from last night! I have
extra copies if anyone wants to 'join the cause'. I will have them at
our next regular practice slot on Sunday, March 13th @ 6:45 PM.
