THE ORIGIN OF SANDWICHES

John Montague was an English nobleman. He loved playing cards for money. Sometimes a game of cards lasted for hours and hours and Montague did not like to stop for lunch or dinner. He asked his servants to prepare a snack, a piece of meat between two slices of bread.

This is what we now call a sandwich and people all over the world eat them. So, the next time you eat a sandwich, think of John Montague!
