TRY: She tried to help her friend yesterday. STUDY: They studied hard for the exams last month
One-syllable verbs ending in one vowel + one consonant double the consonant:
STOP: It stopped raining a few minutes ago PLAN: We planned a visit to the zoo last Sunday
