Ceruse is a mixture of white lead and vinegar. This concoction was more popular with nobility because it gave the best immediate effect and could be laid on thick. Ceruse was also the longest lasting of the body paints. Some side effects were mummified skin, snow-white hair, gastro-intestinal disturbances, palsy, and bleeding from the eyes.
