CUB SCOUT PACK #80, MT. GILEAD
MONTGOMERY DISTRICT, CNCC,NC
Welcome to Cub Scout Pack #80's web site!  We'd like to share with you the fun that your child can enjoy with CUB SCOUTS!  Because Cub Scouting is Family oriented, everyone in the family joins in on a lot of the fun, but there is always the den meetings when the boys get to learn about scouting.   We emphasize PATRIOTISM, RELIGION, ACTS OF KINDNESS and HELPING OTHERS IN THE COMMUNITY.  All of this stirred in with the fun of camping and adventure makes being a CUB SCOUT a wonderful program for boys aged 6-10yrs old.  As leaders, it is our responsiblity to provide the building blocks they need to become the fine young man we all hope our sons grow up to be.
The key to having a successful Pack is adult involvement.  We involve ALL parents in our program so that the weight doesn't fall on just one....this way we also get to enjoy the fun.
Every year we sell popcorn to raise money to operate on for the year.  At the end of the scouting year, we take the boys on a special trip.  We have included a few of these pictures.
We also attend many events throughout the year including the Pinewood Derby for the District, Camporees, & Daycamp.  We made the flower & rock garden with stepping stones at our school as a service project.   We hold flag retirement ceremonies for our school, as well as Food Drives for the Food Pantry.
By teaching boys to help others, we teach them the GIFT of GIVING.  The cubs are proud to be Cub Scouts when they are seen by their peers at school as "someone who helps".

We are located in beautiful Montgomery County, NC.  Our county borders the Piedmont and Sandhills making us only 3 hrs from the beach or mountains.
Though we are a remote area, we have lots to do.  Located within the county are:
The Uwharrie Mountains with bountiful camping, hiking, fishing, wildlife, canoeing and National Forest land.  This is the oldest known chain of mountains on the East coast, formed from volcanoes, the mountains still retain their cone shape!
Town Creek Indian Mound-local site excavated & preserved Creek Indian burial site.
Mt. Gilead Historical Museum-filled with history & antiques of days gone by.
Lake Tillery-beautiful lake nestled between Morrow Mt. State Park & the Uwharrie Mountains.
