| This photo was taken at Walton Park, Litchfield, on the North end of the lake, close to the American Legion Hall. The plant the monarch is shown eating is Swamp Milkweed. Swamp Milkweed likes to grow in damp places. The Monarch larvae was about the size of a young person's little finger. The caterpillar was in constant motion, swinging it's head from side to side, eating voraciously. If you study the picture you can see where little flowers are missing. |
