Those memorable moments –Me in Montfort
Studying before exams, just behind the Staff Room,
Playing cricket (Exam Card-boards and soft hanky balls) after them………
Seeing Bro. Peter off on that cold November morning -
When, not a single rose was anywhere to be found. :-(
And speaking of Flowers ! – the myriad we all brought for Tr Shampa,
( Would she have been proud to receive them ?
Or, would she have felt embarrassed ? )
The wonderful Scrap book, the tour to the nearby hill in class hour ……… !
And Hey, what about that first course in Chemistry – ‘dil.’ Acids ??
How many of you got ‘burnt’ in that ??
Speaking of Questions – what about the QUIZ Montfort ?
In fact, at one time, our class’ was the largest group in it.
Largest number – so were we in the School Band,
Though smallest in recent times in the batch strengths –23.You remember the parading (in line march) in the recess !
Heights of Discipline we demonstrated.
What about that Dutta Sir’s period,
When we (?) hid all our Panoramas in the other class !
Heights of in-discipline that we can be charged with :-)
Montfort - Where I have been almost at all odd hours of a day,But Seasons come and Go, so too the time has gone …
At all stages of life after coming to Kansbahal,
Alone in the campus, and with the thickest of crowds,
On holidays when nobody should have come to school -
( Ya Friends, it was my secret hiding place on Holi )
And also on holidays, when every body should have !!
BTW : I was the first to turn up at school - usually ;-)And, I had friendship ( & quarrels ) with almost everybody there –
The favours that they did for me – or – I did for them !
Be it Late Junaz Bhai, Laly-Sherly didi, the Librarian, or Sir Dutta,
The games that I played there – enthusiastically or forcibly,
And the range of people I played with !!O, it is all so fresh in my memories,
I so vividly imagine myself, on my own, all alone :
Running around the ground on foggy winter mornings,
Shooting basketball ( to improve height !! ),
Writing letters to escape getting drenched in the Holi colors,
Collecting flowers, feathers and seeds from the school and the hills, ………
Crossing to Manas’ house from in between those hills !
The winters – cold happy sunny days,And Finally -
Playing in the hay stack, and being chased by its owner !
And the picnics and get-togethers –
Not to mention the planning and scams involved :-)The summers – sports while not on holiday,
Cycling to nearby areas on those long lovely evenings. The rains – The fields (football as well as rice) slush and muddy.
Us, the mud notwithstanding, hopping and jumping around during recess,
To bring to class those masterpieces – fishes, toads, tadpoles …
And then the clouds descending on to the hill tops
On those damp rainy mornings. Not to mention the Spring !!
For then came the exams, along with the range of flowers,
That were visible not just in Montfort
But in every nook and corner of Kansbahal. And then came Xth – with it came some difficulties –
And the proof of our Unity and Responsibility –
Sir George was admitted, so Teacher George had to go too,
( Of course we enjoyed the free "Volley" periods, didn’t we ?
also the SUPW/History ones !! )
Then, Sir Dutta’s injury and prolonged illness,
Only to end in that ?? Why so O Lord,
When we worked and prayed so hard for his recovery … ?
Then, Teacher Shampa’s departure,
Her crying at the function,
And us seeing her off…
( Is any one of you in contact with her ?)
All this only to follow in our tryst,
With the first "Ad-hocs" or "R.A.s" of our lives –
Bro. Pinto, Swati didi, Jyoti didi, Bindu didi,
Still our performance at the Board,
Will be something that nobody expected,
Rather many of them feared !!
(though I have said only a bit of all that I remember),My hobbiesWe cannot forget the contribution of our
Dear Respected Teachers – each one of them,
For where do we get such
Dedicated, compassionate and loving ones in today’s times.
For the personal attention and care (even if it was in the form of spankings !!)
We are where we could not have reached on our own. These lovely memories will always be –
The glowing warm sunshine of my entire life.
i like painting and sometimes listen to music.
Children : Isnt it called - Baby-Sitting ??Just luvvvv kids
Travelling : By all modes - Walk, Cycle, Bike, Truck, Train,
Gardening &Nature Studies : Provided I have timeAnd the area is fenced !!
