Dale Earnhardt was the image of the sport of NASCAR. This was his 17th season with Richard Childress Racing, capturing 6 of his 7 championships while working under the watchful eyes of Richard. The 7 time Winston Cup Champion was the icon of the sport, helping to make it what you see today. 7 championships ties him with Richard Petty for the most career championships in NASCAR's modern era, making him one of NASCAR's elite. Earnhardt is the only driver to have won rookie of the year, and then moved on to win the Championship the following year. Aside from the track, Dale was a father, with 4 children. Their names are Kerry, Kelly, Dale Jr., and Taylor Nicole. Always standing beside him was his loving wife Teresa. He never lost sight of his roots, living in his hometown of Kannapolis, North Carolina. He owned a Ranch there, working hard every day.. He was up at the crack of dawn to begin his work on the ranch, which he loved so dearly. With all of the money Dale has collected through the years his favorite vehicle remained a Pick-up-Truck. He would have no part of a fancy sports car or a limo. Dale was the common man's hero, doing for us on Sunday's what most of us could only dream of doing. Dale may be remembered as the Intimidator or the Man in Black, but to his many legions of fans, he will be remembered for much, much, more!!! |
