| I am a huge movie fan. I think I'm the only person aside from the nominees that cares who wins the Academy Award for Costume Design or Cinematography. Here are some of my faves! | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) I cannot count how many times I've seen this movie. I find it hard to come up with a description( that's how Awesome it is). Elizabeth Taylor is my favorite actress, she was nominated for the Academy Award for her role as Maggie the cat. Paul Newman is the sexiest drunk I've ever seen snagging an Oscar nod as Brick. But the ultimate show stealer is Big Daddy, played by Burl Ives. He won an Oscar that year but |

| not for Cat. His win was for 'The Big Country.' My mother was BORN the year this film was released! That says something about the quality of most of todays work. Taken from the works of Tennessee Williams, it's a given the dialog is smart and is a fine representation of southern wit and charm. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| A Star is Born (1954) I love Judy Garland, she was perfect in this film. This was to be a breakout role of sorts. The film that was to cement her place as a serious actress not just a musical star. Here we also find the home of my favorite song, 'The Man That Got Away,' nominated for the Best Song Oscar of 1954 It's a Hollywood love story that is still more than relevant today. Both Garland and Mason were nominated for their roles. |
