Story Time

    Monsters, Inc. is the story of the city of Monstropolis. It is a
place that is (obviously) run by monsters. Monstropolis gets it's
power supply by collecting children's screams. There is a team
of scarers led by James P. Sullivan or Sully as he is known
(voiced by John Goodman). Each scarer has thier own scare
assistant. Sully's scare assistant and best friend is Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal). Monsters, Inc. is run by Mr. Waternoose. This factory has been in his family for 3 generations and he's worried by the fact that children aren't being scared by monsters because of video games and television.

     It's a very complicated system they have for collecting the screams. They have a warehouse full of closet doors and they call up a particular door for whichever room they want. The door is sent by a hanging conveyor belt and placed in front of the Monster on the "scare floor." When the door is opened, the monster is in another room in another part of the world. If for any reason the child behind that door can no longer be scared, the door is declared "dead" and it is shredded right away.

     The number 2 scarer in the busniess is Randall Boggs (voiced by Steve Buschemi). He despises Sully and will do anything to become top scarer. It is an ongoing race between the two.

     After a long day of scaring and moving ever closer to a news
scare record, Mike and Sulley are ready to call it a day. Mike has
a date with Celia the Monsters, Inc. receptionist so he's in a bit of
a hurry. He's in such a hurry that he forgets to file the paperwork
for the day.

     Roz gets on Mike's case about the paperwork so he sends Sully
back to file it so he can get to his date with "Celia Welia." When he
goes back to file the paperwork, he sees one door that wasn't sent
back to the warehouse full of doors. He sees the red indicator light
is on at the top of the door so he taps it and it doesn't seem broken so he opens the door. He sees Boo and is terrified by her. See monsters are more scared of children than children of them. They think children are toxic. He slams the door quickly and is relieved that she is gone. He turns around and Boo is standing there. He tries to put her back in the room, but she beats him back out. He finally gets her back into her room (or so he thinks) and he runs away relieved he has escaped this "evil." As he is running away, we see Boo hanging onto his fur on the back.

     When Sully goes back to the locker room, he see's Boo and tries to take her back to the door. When he gets to the scare floor, he sees Randall and his scare assistant coming out of the door talking about how they are mad that the girl isn't there. They then send the door back to the warehouse.

     Sully panicks and puts Boo in a duffle bag and takes her to the restraunt
where Mike and Celia are having their dinner. He shows Mike what he has
in the bad, and he is really freaked out by it. Boo gets out of the bag and
total caos errupts in the restraunt. The C.D.A. (Child Detection Agency) is called and Sully, Mike, and Boo escape back to Mike and Sully's apartment.

     Back at the apartment, Sully and Mike are trying desperately to keep Boo hidden so they don't get in trouble. There are helicopters and trucks circling around outside trying to find this child. Mike is terrified that he will get sick if he touches Boo, so he is acting very paranoid... this is funny to Boo, so she laughs and the lights flicker. She once laughs so hard that she blows the power supply for the whole building. Boo gets tired and she goes to sleep in Sully's bed. He tucks her in and she points to the closet door scared and shows him a picture she drew. The picture is Randall, he is
her scare monster and she is scared of him. He assures her that there is
not anything to be scared of and she goes to sleep.

     The next day Mike and Sully decide to sneak Boo back into the factory after dressing her up as a monster and get her door to send her back. Randall and Fungus (his scare assistant) hear about Boo getting into the monster world. They immediately get suspicious of Mike and Sully. Randall finds out that they did let them in. He pretends that he wants to get Boo back to the human world and tells Mike to bring the girl to the scare floor at 12:00.

     Mike tells this to Sully as they are entering the scare floor. Sully realizes that Randall would never help them and tells Mike that he doesn't think it's a good idea to go along with this plan. To prove him wrong, Mike goes into Boo's room and starts jumping on her bed when suddenly Mike is snatched into a box. Sully hides while they take the box into a secret room in the warehouse where Randall has built a machine that will trap children and extract their screams. Mike is trapped in the machine and Sully unplugs the machine and he (along with Sully and Boo) run to Mr. Waternoose's office to tell him of Randall's awful scheme.

     Mr Waternoose tells them that he is very proud of them and that the most important thing is getting Boo home. He leads them to the scare floor and brings up Boo's door. Sully tells Mr. Waternoose that it's not Boo's door. Mr Waternoose says he knows and it's their door. He then takes Boo and pushes them through into cold snowy Nepal. They have been banished from Monstropolis. There they meet the The Abominable Snowman.

     After a little while trapped in Nepal, Sully gets the idea to go to the nearest town where there are children and sneak through their closet door and return to Monstropolis. Sully travels to the next town and then sneaks through a closet door and back to Monstropolis. Mike, after some hesitation, joins him.

     They are finally back in Monstropolis. They hurry to the secret room where Randall has hid the scream extractor. Sure enough, there is poor little Boo trapped in the extractor. After a pretty hilarious fight between Randall and Sully, Boo is finally set free. Sully and Mike take her and run to the warehouse to try to find her door. This is a very cool scene where they go through doors and they are in different parts of the world. Randall is chasing them to try to get Boo.

     Whlie chasing each other through the different doors, Randall is going to push Sully out of one of them, but Boo realizes she's not scared of Randall anymore and beats him with a bad (In a funny non-violent way of course!)

     Randall finally makes it into Boo's Closet (^__^)...or so he thinks.
This door leads to a trailor in the Bayou and it leads to one of the
funniest scenes in the movie. "Momma there 'nother gator got in the
house!" " 'Nother gator? Gimme that shovel!"

     Mr Waternoose chases Sully, Mike, and Boo through Boo's closet door and confesses that he was in with Randall on the plan to kidnap the children so the business didn't go under. He just wanted to save the business. Then a buzzer goes off and the walls go up...This isn't Boo's Closet, but it's the Monsters, Inc. scarer training room. Waternoose had just confessed in front of everyone. The CDA then comes and takes him away. Then Roz appears and it turns out that she is the head of the CDA and she was working there undercover. Boo is finally sent back home and after that, her door is shredded because it is no longer "active." It is very sad! Mike sees one lone piece of her door that was thrown from the machine and he gives it to Sully for him to keep.

     The next day all of the workers are leaving the factory for the last time and Sully is really upset...but then he gets an idea and runs back into Monsters, Inc. Next thing we see is Mike in a child's room doing a standup routine. It turns out that
child laughter is ten times more powerful than screams. Mike is now
one who collects the laughs and Sully is kind of the head of Monsters,
Inc. After Mike collects more laughs, he takes Sully to a secluded part
of the factory where he has a surprise for him...He has put Boo's door back together! He just needs the last part of the door that Sully has saved all of this time. They put te piece back into the door and the red indicator light goes on. Sully goes through and he sees his little Boo again. Then the movie ends and the Monstropolis energy crisis is finally over.
