Ali's First Battle,
Fought and Won
Ali 12 hours before surgery 3-17-98
This was a few hours after she was born.  In 12 hours, she would be in surgery.
shortly before surgery @ childrens 3-17-98
She had just gotten to Childrens Hospital and they were about to prep her for surgery.  That is her little head peakin' out of the warmer there.
3-17-98 post surgery, still on ventilator
This was just after surgery,
she had made it!

At least through the first part.
This was about a week (maybe a little longer) after surgery.  Finally being able to hold her.  Those 3 1/2 weeks were kind of a blur.
No more tube up the nose! March 1998
Off the vent, with dad March 1998
She finally got the tube out of her nose, she hated that thing and had pulled it out many times.  Just a few hours later she fell asleep.  (you can still see the tape marks on her cheeks)
Ali is mad - April 2, 1998
This was April 2, 1998.  The day before we got to go home.  She was mad (not uncommon that last week).  They would only allow her to eat a little at a time, till she passed it, then she could have a little more the next time.  Once she first had  breastmilk (she didnt get any till she was a couple weeks old), she was not happy with just a taste.  This made for a grumpy Ali and she let everyone know.

You can see her tummy scar, just above her belly button.  She also has a mean looking scar in her left elbow pit (from the tube that fed her IV food), but she is hiding it here.
