| The GJ Mitsubishi Scorpion was released at the end of 1981. It was a revised body from the GE & GH series with a wider body with a more flater boot area. The square head lights remained but the car was completly different. Fitted with a leaded petrol Astron II 2600cc engine it had outstanding perfomance for the era. The interior was in the upper class with air conditioning as an option, and many took this option simply to complete the interior design. Power steering was standard on automatic models but never ever got fitted to a manual model. With its superior ride quality and gearing for the highway it was a cruise machine without question and handling was also revised with the fitment of progresive rate springs. According to NRMA Insurance the car is worth $1500 at the auction, $2600 for a private sale and $3600 at a dealership with under 337 thousand kilometres on the clock. Not bad if you can find a good one that the timing chain does'nt rattle and with not alot of rust. |
