....The pup returned, where Marlo and San were talking. The boars were planning their final battle, the humans burning sulfur and cutting trees to urge them off. San says she must go be Lord Akoto�s eyes. Marlo tells San Ashitaka wanted to spend his life with her, and she cries into her fur saying she hated them all *cough cough*. At the same time Lady Eboshi had earlier revealed she would help the monk, Cigo, to kill the forest spirit. Time passes and Ashitaka hears a battle, and finds Iron town under attack, the women are being overpowered. He goes to get a message to Lady Eboshi for them, after finding out her intent was to kill the forest spirit. While being chased Yakule is injured, slowing him down. He comes across a remnences of the great battle with the boars. The many people had been killed, but won. Under a few of the boars he found a wolf. Ashitaka aslo revealed Iron towns situation to the men. He tried to get the wolf out, knowing he would be able to find her. The soldier of Jigo�s fires poison darts at him, but the men of the village knock them down and help Ashitaka get the wolf free. Askitaka leaves Yakule in their care and runs with the wolf to find San� eventually he rides because he was not fast enough. San, leading a greatly wounded Akoto, to beg the forest spirit. Jigo�s soldiers used boars skin and blood so that Akoto thought his warriors came back from the dead. A dying Lord Akoto began to turn into a demon. One of the soldiers hit her with a rock and she was caught by the demon marks. While traveling there, they ran into Lady Eboshi. He told about Iron town, Eboshi decides to leave the women, saying she did all she could for them. Ashitaka finds a half dead Marlow at the forest spirt�s pool and calls to her, which wakes her up under the mass of demon marks. The wolves attack the fake boars, as Ashitaka tries to save a buried San. He is thrown off, but Marlo (instead of killing Iboshi) decides to save San. She pulles her away in her mouth, calling to Askitaka to save her, which he does. Iboshi fires a shot at the forest spirit, but one shot is not enough to kill it. The forest spirit takes the life of the demon that was Akoto, and Marlo. Then the spirit began to transform into the night walker, and Iboshi took the final shot, taking off his head. From his body a mass of death formed, kill anything it would touch. Marlo's head bit off Eboshi's arm (she�d said earlier a wolf�s head can still bite) and Ashitaka helped her and Ganza (her head guy) get out. He even stopped San from killing her with the crystal dagger he gave her. Ashitaka asks San to help, and she says she hates all humans and never would help. He hugs her and he says he is sorry, he tried to stop it. She says it is over, but he says it isn�t as long as they are alive. They mount the wolves and ride towards the head of the beast (which Jigo is running with). They pass iron town and Ashitaka warns them to go to the lake, saying Iboshi is coming and he is going to try to return the head. Iron town is destroyed by the ooze. San and Ashitaka confront the men, and they fight. The head ends up rolling down a hill, and they end up on a stone surrounded by the ooze. Ashitaka tells Jigo to open the box, and San asks why. Ashitaka says �human hands must return it�. Jigo opens it, and San and Ashitaka hold it up (Ashitaka puts his other hands around San). The creature returns to it�s head (the demon mark spreads on both San and Ashitaka). The spirit night walker �dies� as the day returns. Its physical body dropping, ironically on Iron Town, repairing the damage done. Greenery immediately began to grow, as one said �I didn�t know the forest spirit made the flowers grow..� San and Ashitaka awake in the feilds, with a healed Yakule and the wolf pups. Ashitaka tells San the forest spirit cannot die, he is life itself. Their marks are gone. San tells Ashitaka he means so much to her, but she can�t forgive the humans. He said he understands and will go back and help rebuild Iron Town, coming to visit whenever he can. Lady Eboshi reflects on how amazing it was Mononoke helped save them all, and asked for Ashitaka to thank him. She plans to build a better Iron Town, while Jigo gave up. The very end show a single tree spirit appearing from the ashes.
