The First Daemon War
Records of the first
Daemon Wars are at best very sketchy. What is known for sure is that SlythRa,
the chosen one of Nurgle, attained a power the like of which had never before
been granted by a god. Because SlythRa was already a greater Daemon of
awesome power, elevation would obviously not be in the form of a relatively
lowly Daemon Prince, therefore Nurlge granted his servant something special.
The powers granted can only be guessed at, but judging from the fact that
SlythRa was already one of the most powerful creatures in existence, his new
powers must have made him a demigod. It was lust for SlythRa’s power which ignited the very first Daemon
Wars, because it was believed that whom ever slew Slythra in single combat
would gain his powers. Although the outcome of the first war was decided by the cataclysmic
final battle, there were infact numerous battles between SlythRa’s armies and
his enemies Numerous Daemon Lords came after SlythRa, but all perished. Fenolyzin, Daevok and Xagraxsis are but a
few of the Daemon Lords who dared to face the champiuon of Nurgle. Legends tell
of how SlythRa ripped Daevok’s head off with his bare hands. Several years after SlythRa’s elevation came Amon Chakai, champion of
Tzeentch, perhaps the oldest of all Daemons. None had seen the Greater Daemon
for centuries for it is said that he had foreseen the coming wars and prepared,
locking himself away in his castle
studying the winds of Chaos. Amon Chakai assaulted the fortress of SlythRa and as the massive armies
fought each other, the two Daemon lords met upon the balcony of SlythRa’s
citadel. The Daemon’s struggled with each other for what must have been days,
long after the their two armies had wiped each other out. Magical energy of
lordly might was countered and enchanted weapons of legendary powers clashed.
Then SlythRa seemed to be on the verge of ultimate victory. Although Amon had
prepared for centuries for this combat, gathering and enhancing his magical
powers, he could not match the seemingly invincible SlythRa. But then the
winds of magic changed for Amon. Empowered by a sudden surge of energy, Amon
let loose with a reckless spell. The spell miscast and caused a huge
explosion, disintegrating SlythRa’s castle and consuming the two Daemon Lords
in an instant. Both Daemons were banished back into the Realm of Chaos,
neither of them able to set foot upon them mortal world until the day that
their masters believed they had served a long enough punishment in the warp
for their futile bickering. So the Mortal lands were left in peace for several centuries, but the
return of the immortal Daemons Lords was inevitable. And when they did return
it would not be one, but four Daemons Lords who would strive for ultimate
dominion over the Warhammer world. Extracts from the ‘Ire De Daemonicus”: From book 1: Dawn of the
