Squaresoft and Final fantasy

You may think that just because their is no character or storyline relation between each Final Fantasy that their is none but you would be very wrong as their are several points that have remained in the final fantasy games since almost day one.

Cid: Found in final fantasy 2-8 and in the excellent final fantasy tactics. Cid can always be found in the final fantasy games, players of final fantasy 7 and 8 will remember him as the Mechanic at Rocket town and as the headmaster Balemb garden. Cid always takes the charater of a mechanic or engineer (and headteacher) and always appears slightly wiser and more aloof than the others never participating in the fun. Cid has only been playable in final fantasy 4 and 7

The logo: Since Final fantasy 4 the final fantasy logo has always been the same style of writing with a particular picture in the background relevent to the theme for example:
  • Final fantasy 4- has the dragoon Kain in the background
  • Final fantasy 5- has a dragon in the background
  • Final fantasy 6- has a suit of Magitek Armor in the background
  • Final fantasy 7- has a comet in the background
  • Final fantasy 8- has Squall and Rinoa in an embrace.

Biggs and Wedge: These two guys have always played a minor role in every Final Fantasy game, well actually 4-8 but nevertheless their appearance has always been comical (remember the two soldiers in Final fantasy 8).

The Prelude and Victory Fanfare: Every Final fantasy game opens with a prelude song this is usually recognised by its harp sounds and the use of a string orchestra. In every Final fantasy this prelude comes in the same way with a different arragement. The victory Fanfare plays after every victorious battle. In final fantasy 1-6 the victory fanfare is exactly the same however in final fantasy 7 and 8 only the beginning initial trumpet has been kept. However if you would like to know what the original victory fanfare sounded like it's is the tune you hear after winning a race at the gold saucer with a chocobo in Final fantasy 7.

Excalibur and Masamune: These are always the two most powerful swords in a final fantasy game since final fantasy 1 up until 8. Excalibur as you have probably guessed gets it's nama from King Arthur and the knights of the round table whilst Masamune I think comes from a Japanese legend about a swordsmith.

Summoned Monsters: Since Final fantasy 3players have been able to summon monsters to help in the current quest these monsters have usually derived from mytholgy and concept art can be seen on the most popular in the concept art section of this web site. Each of these monsters is usually based on a theme for example Ifrit fire, Shiva ice, Titan Earth and Ranmah lightening. This summoning of monsters usually looks specatular and is usually way over the top but does look extremely good.

Holy, Meteor and Ultima: Always the strongest spells in the game. Holy is typically the magic of good also known as the white or pearl magic. Whilst Meteor is always the Black and evil magic that can cause mass destruction. Ultima is also sometimes used as the black magic. Usually these 2 or 3 spells are the most powerful in the game.

Chocobos: Chocobos are Squaresofts unique new species. They have been present in Final Fantasy games as well as the less famous moogles since Final fantasy 3. Chocobos look like ostricj/chichen creatures see main page Chocobo Ranch for more information and are usually yellow coloured. Moogles on the other hand look like white teddies with red eyes and bats wings and usually only say 'Kupo' which is also their favourite food. Whilst Moogles say 'Kupo' Chocobos say 'Wark Wark' I have no idea why though.

That about ends my page on the similarities between each Final Fantasy game except to say that their are many staff at Square soft that have worked on almost every Final Fantasy game for example Yoshitaka Amano has been the artit for final fantasy games since day one as well asNobuo Uemstsu who has composed the music for every Final Fantasy game so far.
